Pokémon Horizons: The Series anime and Pokémon GO are teaming up for a new collaboration covering both the TV series and the mobile game. A special anime episode will air in Japan on September 18, while an accompanying Pokémon GO event will run worldwide from September 16 to 22.
Episode 150, titled “Hirogaru Sekai, Kimi to GO!” (The Expanding World, With You and GO!), will show Liko and her companions head out on fieldwork alongside Professor Willow from Pokémon GO. As their investigation progresses, the episode will reveal how Friede first met Charizard. PokéStops will also appear in the episode. A trailer was revealed.
Charmander wearing Friede’s goggles will make its Pokémon GO debut during the event. It can be found in the wild, through Field Research, when using regular Lure Modules and through the event GO Pass. Players can evolve it into Charmeleon and then Charizard while retaining the goggles. Shiny versions will be available, and some encounters may feature a Special Background.
Pikachu wearing Cap’s hat will also return as a possible wild encounter and appear in one-star raids. Three-star raids will feature Charizard wearing Friede’s goggles, Meowscarada, Skeledirge and Quaquaval. Shiny encounters and Special Backgrounds will be available for the featured raid Pokémon.
The wild Pokémon lineup will vary by time of day. From 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., players can encounter Pokémon including Fidough and Wattrel, with Chansey appearing more rarely. From 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Eevee and Hatenna will be among the featured Pokémon, with Rockruff as a rarer encounter.
Other bonuses include an increased chance of encountering Kecleon at PokéStops, event-themed Field Research and daily PokéStop Showcases. GO Snapshot will also feature surprise appearances from characters and Pokémon seen in Pokémon Horizons.
A limited-time GO Pass will be distributed automatically to players when the event begins, bringing bonuses including double Candy for catching Pokémon, one-hour regular Lure Modules and additional Stardust for catching Hatenna and Wattrel.
The anime broadcast itself will include another in-game bonus. During the September 18 episode, a promotional code will be announced that guarantees an encounter with Charmander wearing Friede’s goggles featuring a Special Background.
The Pokémon TV anime currently follows Liko and Roy’s ongoing adventures, while Pokémon GO originally launched in 2016 as a location-based mobile game. Pokémon revealed its Generation 10 games and starters during this year’s Pokémon Day, presented during the Pokémon Presents livestream on February 27, 2026. The games are titled Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves and will release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
The franchise previously revealed numerous special anime shorts, including an anime for World Earth Day, a Dragonite-focused short by CoMix Wave Films on Pokémon Day in 2025, and the recent POKÉTOON short anime titled Wartortle and the Continuation of Summer directed by Shingo Yamashita.
Another new anime, The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu, was also recently announced for 2027, as well as a new anime film, Pokémon: Wild Card. The film is being animated by studio CloverWorks and will premiere in 2027.
