The new Pokémon stop-motion anime series, titled Pokémon Tales: The Adventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu, is set to stream globally on Disney+ in 2027. The first visual featuring the two Pokémon was also revealed.
The project is being produced by Aardman, the British animation studio known for stop-motion animation and titles including Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep. Disney+ announced a global distribution agreement with The Pokémon Company International for the series.
Set in the Galar region, the story will follow Sirfetch’d and Pichu as they go on an adventure to protect the Pokémon living there. Along the way, they will encounter unexpected dangers as well as new rivals and allies, with their friendship developing throughout the journey.
Ayo Davis, President of Disney Branded Television, commented on the collaboration and Aardman’s approach to the Pokémon world:

With Pokémon Tales: The Adventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu, Aardman brings their unmistakable stop-motion artistry and playful perspective to this beloved world, giving audiences a chance to experience familiar characters in a way they’ve never seen before.
Phil Rynda, Director of Original Animation at The Pokémon Company International, also commented on what viewers can expect from the project:
This story of adventure and courage, told from the Pokémon’s point of view, has been made even more compelling by the incredible creators at Aardman. Audiences are going to love meeting Sirfetch’d, Pichu and the colorful cast of Pokémon featured in this series. Aardman has brought the Galar region to life in a way that makes you feel like you can smell the air, touch the bark of the trees and want to set off on an adventure alongside our heroes.
Pokémon revealed its Generation 10 games and starters during this year’s Pokémon Day, presented during the Pokémon Presents livestream on February 27, 2026. The games are titled Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves and will release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
The franchise previously revealed numerous special anime shorts, including an anime for World Earth Day, a Dragonite-focused short by CoMix Wave Films on Pokémon Day in 2025, and the recent POKÉTOON short anime titled Wartortle and the Continuation of Summer directed by Shingo Yamashita.
