The upcoming stop-motion animated Pokémon series, Pokémon Concierge, announced that the theme song, “Have a Good Time Here” by Mariya Takeuchi is now available to stream worldwide! The song is performed by the legendary city pop singer, who sang the popular song, “Plastic Love.” The song, “Have a Good Time Here,” gives off a relaxing, city-pop vibe as if you are visiting and having a good time in a tropical island paradise. Fans can listen to the song both on Spotify and Apple Music. The song was also released as a single and can be bought on Amazon, Tokyo Records Online, and HMV & Books online for ¥1,650JPY (~$11.54USD) (including tax).
In addition, a music video for the song has also been released. This makes it the first time for Takeuchi to have a combination of CG animation and real-world scenes in her music videos. The music video features Mariya-chan, a character well-known to Takeuchi’s fans, who has been animated into CG for the first time and is going on a trip from Tokyo to an Island Resort as she runs and dances around in the real world. This music video is Mariya-chan’s long-awaited CG and first appearance in a music video. Mariya-chan was illustrated by Mari Yamazaki, who is best known for her manga Thermae Romae. Mariya Takeuchi is a famous Japanese singer and songwriter well-known as an influential figure in the city pop genre. She first debuted as a singer in 1978 with her single “Come Back/My Time” and has produced countless hit songs such as “Cheer Up” and “Mysterious Peach Pie” (Fushigi na Peach Pie) since then. After her marriage to singer and song-writer Tatsuro Yamashita, Takeuchi became a song-writer herself. Takeuchi is known as one of the best-selling music artists in Japan and has sold over 16 million records and several awards including the “6th Tokiko Iwatani Award.” in 2015. In 2017, her 1985 song, “Plastic Love,” became a surprise hit outside of Japan and paved the way for the international resurgence of the city pop genre and introduced younger fans to it.
Pokémon Concierge is an upcoming stop-motion animated series by Pokémon and Netflix. It was first announced on February 2023 of this year during the Pokémon Day’s Pokémon Present. It is directed by Iku Ogawa and produced by dwarf studios. It follows a young concierge in training named Haru, who works with her fellow staff members to attend to the needs of various Pokémon guests. Along the way, she gradually discovers a new side of herself. Pokémon Concierge is set to air in both English dub and subtitles on Netflix on December 28.
