The official Twitter account has announced that season 2 of Rent-A-Girlfriend (Kanojo, Okarishimasu) will premiere sometime in 2022. Titled “Ibento (Event) to Kanojo: Ibekano“, the event was today in Japan. It included a presentation, a sale of limited edition products and a recital. The important announcement came at the end, and there the official tweet:
The Rent-A-Girlfriend anime was incredibly well received by fans everywhere, and season 2 is anticipated since the first one ended. Naturally, it did especially well in Japan, which is why it comes as no surprise that there are events to celebrate it. It was reportedly even among the most popular shows in Japan at one point during the first season. The anime is an adaptation of Miyajima Reiji’s manga series of the same name. It was first serialized 3 years ago, and there have been several exhibitions for the franchise over Japan.
The season 2 now has a release date, though 2022 is still pretty vague. As a non manga reader, I hope that Kazuya shows some remarkable character development in the future. So far he’s been kind of disappointing with all the regressions. Will look forward to seeing the girls anyway though.
