The Shangri-La Frontier assistant director, Hiroki Ikeshita, passed away on November 6. The news were announced today on the anime’s official website. Ikeshita had worked as an assistant director on Season 1 of the anime, as well as on the ongoing Season 2. The full official statement can be read below.
We are deeply saddened to announce that Mr. Hiroki Ikeshita, the assistant director of the TV anime Shangri-La Frontier, passed away on Wednesday, November 6.
Mr. Ikeshita contributed tremendously to Shangri-La Frontier, and we would like to express our heartfelt condolences. We sincerely pray for his peaceful rest.

Some of Hiroki Ikeshita’s other credits include Shachibato! President, It`s Time for Battle! (director), Handyman Saitou in Another World (assistant director), and Hitoribocchi no Marumaruseikatsu (assistant director).
Studio C2C is animating, with the second season set to run for two consecutive cours. The first season also ran for 2 consecutive cours from October 2023. Toshiyuki Kubooka is directing, with Kurashima Ayumi as the character designer and chief animation director. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu is in charge of the series composition, and the trio of Hirokawa Keiichi, Takada Ryuichi amd Takahashi Kuniyuki are in charge of the music.
The original Shangri-La Frontier manga by Ryosuke Fuji (art) and Katarina (story) adapts the web novel by the latter, which has been serialized on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website since May 2017. The manga adaptation is published in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine, and it was also licensed in English by Kodansha USA.
