'It's Going to Take All the Support From Fans': Solo Leveling Producers Talk About Season 3

Solo Leveling Season 3 can only happen with fandom support, says Aniplex producer Sota Furuhashi and A-1 Pictures animation producer Atsushi Kaneko. The pair held an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on Reddit, where they were asked whether they could exceed the standards for previous seasons with Solo Leveling Season 3. They replied:

Do you know Dragon Ball’s Genki-dama (Spirit Bomb)? We need your energy! If we’re going to make a Season 3, it’s going to take all the support and energy from the fans. I learned that from Akira Toriyama himself!

Other interesting responses from the AMA included Solo Leveling episodes taking around 10 months on average to complete, with the longer ones taking 12 months. Localization was happening “almost around the clock” to ensure the series was ready for global audiences as close to the Japanese release as possible. The Japanese dubbing process took about 2-3 weeks per episode. Furuhashi was already a fan of the webtoon in 2019, leading him to launch the project at Aniplex. The song “DARK ARIA” by Hiroyuki Sawano, which appeared in Episode 6, wasn’t originally supposed to feature either; the team decided to test it out and found the result was “even more impactful than we expected.

Crunchyroll streams both seasons of Solo Leveling in English subbed and dubbed. The second season finale notably made no mention of a decision on Season 3. The series is described:
They say whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, but that’s not the case for the world’s weakest hunter Sung Jinwoo. After being brutally slaughtered by monsters in a high-ranking dungeon, Jinwoo came back with the System, a program only he could see, that’s leveling him up in every way. Now, he’s inspired to discover the secrets behind his powers and the dungeon that spawned them.
