Sony’s Verse VTuber Project Releases Lore Video Narrated by Tomori Kusunoki

VERSE (stylized as VERSEⁿ), one of Sony Music Entertainment Japan’s VTuber projects, has released a lore video detailing the past stories revolving around its characters. The video is narrated by Rin, a teenage girl who is voiced by voice actress Tomori Kusunoki. Anime fans might know Kusunoki as Llenn from Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online and Setsuna Yuki from the Love Live franchise.

The video features a story by Rin, who narrates her thoughts and fantasies and alludes to the various realities that the characters of VERSE are present in. She goes on to say that the walls of these imaginations have slowly chipped away, and are now “in full color.”

The monologue is in line with VERSE’s previous lore of exploring complex storylines through various media, including manga, music, and illustrations to explore the past, present, and future in the world of VERSE.

The video was produced by maxilla, known for his works on the opening sequences of Fate/Grand Order – Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia and Darling in the Franxx. Kusunoki, who is signed with Sony Music Artists, is known for her roles in Märchen Mädchen, Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club and Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online. Recently she voiced as Hanako Sato in Aharen-san wa Hakarenai and will voice Karasuba in the upcoming series Prima Doll.

Sony debuted its VERSE VTuber group through a teaser released on November 1, 2021. An anime-style music video that served as a trailer for the talents was revealed on November 12, 2021. The talents debuted on November 19, 2021, and included Maru Nanamona, Hitoshiro Itsuki, Kagase Uno, Alba Sela, and Kashi Otoha.
