SPY x FAMILY manga has gone on a sudden hiatus, with the next update now scheduled to release on December 23, 2024. Chapter 108 was initially supposed to release on November 25. The official statement doesn’t specify a reason for the hiatus, only apologizing for the late notice (announced a day after the chapter was supposed to release).
This isn’t the first time the manga went on an unexpected hiatus, but the delay in update had fans worried as Tatsuya Endo hasn’t posted on X (formerly Twitter) since October 13. The full statement regarding the new hiatus reads:
The SPY×FAMILY Chapter 108, which was scheduled to update on November 25, has been postponed.
We apologize for the delay in notifying you.
To everyone who was looking forward to the update, we deeply apologize for keeping you waiting.
The next update is scheduled for 12/23 (Monday).
We kindly ask for your understanding!
SPY x FAMILY has been serialized on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ since 2019, with the total copies exceeding 35 million back in March 2024 with its 13 volumes. Volume 14 released on September 4, 2024 in Japan. Viz Media licensed the series in English. The manga also celebrated its 5th anniversary this year.
The manga has an anime adaptation, which is a collaboration between WIT Studio and CloverWorks. The first season aired over two parts in 2022 for a total of 25 episodes. The second one had 12 episodes, which were were released from October to December 2023. Season 3 was announced in June.
There is also the SPY x FAMILY Code: WHITE original movie, which was released in Japan in December 2023 and internationally in April 2024. Crunchyroll streams the first two TV anime seasons, as well as the movie.
The story follows the Forger family. Loid is a spy, Yor is an assassin, and the daughter is a telepath. Add Bond, the family dog who has the ability to see the future, and you have an incredible blend of events that would otherwise never be possible as Loid tries to complete his mission despite all sorts of distractions.
