Tapas Media, Radish Fiction, and Wuxiaworld officially merged to form Tapas Entertainment on August 1st. The parent company will be overseeing the development and growth of all three platforms which will continue to operate individually.
Tapas was a sponsor of this year’s ECCC and even hosted a Tapas – Stories You Crave panel, which attracted over 180 attendees. Tapas Creator Group Signing also gathered a lot of attention and the highlight was Haley Newsome’s signing. The author, better known as LavenderTowne, has her own comic on Tapas which is titled UNFAMILIAR. The comic has been viewed over 30 million times so far, making it one of the more successful OEL titles on the platform.
One of Tapas’ most popular original stories, The Beginning After the End by TurtleMe, also did not go unnoticed at ECCC 2022:
About Tapas Entertainmnt
Tapas Entertainment is owned by Kakao Entertainment, a South Korean entertainment, mass media, and publishing company. Kakao announced plans to buy the Tapas platform for $510 million in May of last year. The other two platforms that form Tapas Entertainment are Radish Fiction and Wuxiaworld. Radish Fiction mainly hosts romance, mystery, thriller, and fantasy fiction stories, while Wuxiaworld is dedicated to Chinese novels. Both of these, along with Tapas, function on the freemium model – some chapters (or episodes) are available for free, while others get gradually unlocked or require a specific currency that can be purchased on site. Chang Kim, Tapas founder, is currently the CEO of Tapas Entertainment.
