The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) manga by Itsuki Nanao and Nekokurage has revealed the bonus illustration for Volume 14, which will be released on September 25, 2024. The regular edition is priced at 770 yen while the special edition, which comes with an art booklet, is priced at 1,469 yen.
The bonus illustration features the titular character Maomao who is holding a hairpin. It also includes a frog, a playful reference that fans of the series will understand. See the illustration below:

The Apothecary Diaries is a Japanese light novel series written by Natsu Hyuga and illustrated by Toko Shino. TOHO Animation and OML animated the anime adaptation in 2023. The second season is set to release in 2025.
The Apothecary Diaries series also has two manga adaptations: Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Maomao no Kokyu Nazotoki Techo (The Apothecary Diaries: The Palace Cloister Mystery-Solving Notebook of Maomao) by Minoji Kurata serialized in Shogakukan’s Monthly Sunday Gene-X; and The Apothecary Diaries by Itsuki Nanao and Nekokurage in Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan. Square Enix is publishing Nekokurage’s version in English and describes the plot:
Maomao, a young woman trained in the art of herbal medicine, is forced to work as a lowly servant in the inner palace. Though she yearns for life outside its perfumed halls, she isn’t long for a life of drudgery! Using her wits to break a “curse” afflicting the imperial heirs, Maomao attracts the attentions of the handsome eunuch Jinshi and is promoted to attendant food taster. But Jinshi has other plans for the erstwhile apothecary, and soon Maomao is back to brewing potions and…solving mysteries?!
