The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 anime has revealed the main trailer featuring the opening theme song by Lilas Ikuta from YOASOBI. The anime will run for 2 consecutive cours starting on January 10, 2025, with OLM and TOHO Animation studio returning to animate. The theme song is titled “Hyakka Ryoran,” and you check out the trailer below.
An additional cast member has also been announced. Asami Seto will voice Shisui, a talkative and cheerful girl who loves insects.
This will be the first solo anime theme song by Lilas Ikuta. You can read the artist’s comment below.

A teaser trailer and visual for the anime were revealed on October 22, which marked exactly one year since the first season premiered in 2023.
TOHO Animation Studio and OLM also animated the first season, with Norihiro Naganuma as the director. He is returning to direct Season 2 with the same staff. It also includes Akimi Fudesaka as a director, with assistant direction from Wataru Nakagawa, Yukiko Nakatani as the character designer, and the trio of Kevin Penkin, Satoru Kosaki and Arisa Okehazama on the music.
Crunchyroll is streaming the anime, and they also confirmed that the sequel will be coming to the platform in 2025. The voice cast consists of the following members:

Natsu Hyuga writes the The Apothecary Diaries light novel, with illustrations by Toko Shino. It is serialized by Shunfunotomo. The series has 2 manga adaptation, one written by Itsuki Nanao and illustrated by Nekokurage, and one written and illustrated by Minoji Kurata. The former is published by Square Enix and serialized in Monthly GanGan, while the latter is published by Shogakukan and serialized in Monthly Sunday Gene-X.
There is also a short mini-anime series called Maomao’s Diaries (Maomao no Hitorigoto), which features the main character Maomao explaining things that were shown during the regular TV anime episodes.
The Apothecary Diaries light novel series is licensed and published digitally in English by J-Novel Club. The manga adaptation is published by Square Enix. The story follows the young apothecary Maomao as she gets sold to the emperor’s palace as a lowly servant. She’s not the type of character to just stay obedient, and she ends up helping Jinshi, a handsome official at the palace and getting a promotion. There’s plenty of mysteries at the palace, and she now has plenty of adventures there, all the while accidentally making Jinshi fall for her more and more.
