The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 revealed a new, final trailer ahead of the premiere on January 10. The highly-anticipated sequel will run for two consecutive cours. TOHO animation STUDIO and OLM are once again animating with Nogihiro Naganuma as the chief director and Akimi Fudesaka as the director. The trailer features the ending theme song, “Shiawase no Recipe” by HIRAIDAI:
The previous trailer showed off the opening theme song “Hyakkaryouran” by Lilas Ikuta from YOASOBI. Kevin Penkin, Satoru Kosaki, and Arisa Okehazama are returning to compose the music. Aoi Yuki and Takeo Otsuka are once again voicing Maomao and Jinshi.
The Apothecary Diaries anime is based on a light novel series written by Natsu Hyuga and illustrated by Toko Shino. Norihiro Naganuma directed the anime and also did the series composition. Yukiko Nakatani was in charge of the character designs. It’s worth noting that the series also has two manga adaptations, one by Nekokurage and one by Minoji Kurata. Crunchyroll describes the plot:
Maomao lived a peaceful life with her apothecary father. Until one day, she’s sold as a lowly servant to the emperor’s palace. But she wasn’t meant for a compliant life among royalty. So when imperial heirs fall ill, she decides to step in and find a cure! This catches the eye of Jinshi, a handsome palace official who promotes her. Now, she’s making a name for herself solving medical mysteries!
