The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 has released the creditless opening theme “Hyakka Ryoran (Splendid Bounty)” by Lilas Ikuta from YOASOBI. The anime will run for 2 consecutive cours with TOHO Animation studio and OLM returning to animate. The first episode will premiere on January 10.
As shared on The Apothecary Diaries website, Lilas Ikuta shared that after experiencing Season 1 firsthand, she is honored to perform the opening for Season 2. While writing the song, the singer hoped to deliver new life into the anime while incorporating the same excitement from when she first became absorbed in the story and characters.
The lyrics are inspired by Maomao’s charms, the glamourous world of the inner court, and the unpredictable developments and mysteries that unfold. “Hyakka Ryoran (Splendid Bounty)” by Lilas Ikuta is now available to stream on multiple platforms.
The Apothecary Diaries is a Japanese light novel series written by Natsu Hyuga and illustrated by Toko Shino. TOHO Animation Studio and OML animated the first season of The Apothecary Diaries in 2023. The second season is airing this Winter 2025, with a total of 24 episodes. Crunchyroll describes the plot of the second season:
When a favored concubine becomes pregnant, Maomao is put to the test as her food taster. She must keep her wits sharp, not only to protect the concubine but also against rising dangers in the palace. A new concubine with powerful ties, an unsolved attempt at Jinshi’s life, and a foreign envoy with impossible demands hint at a grand conspiracy poised to engulf the empire.
