The Irregular at Magic High School Season 3 revealed a new key visual and trailer for the upcoming Steeplechase Chapter arc. The arc, which shares the title with the 13th book of the light novel series, will being on May 3 and run for four episodes. The arc will feature “Snow Noir” by Sangatsu no Phantasia as the ending theme and LiSA’s “Shouted Serenade” as the opening.
Double Seven was the first arc of The Irregular at Magic High School Season 3; it ran for four episodes. The season will also cover the Ancient City Insurrection, which is slated for five episodes. Jimmy Stone is directing the anime series at studio 8bit. Kana Ishida is in charge of the character designs, while Taku Iwasaki is working on the music. Muneo Nakamoto is writing the script for The Irregular at Magic High School Season 3.
The Irregular at Magic High School series started with a web novel by Tsutomu Sato. Originally published on Shosetsuka ni Naro, Dengeki Bunko published it in light novel format in 2011. Manga adaptations of each arc also exist. The Irregular at Magic High School: Magian Company sequel started in 2020.
The first season of the anime by studio MADHOUSE aired in the Spring of 2014, while the Visitor Arc sequel (season 2) followed in the Fall of 2020. Although MADHOUSE animated season 1, 8-bit took over for the 2nd season. The prequel, The Irregular at Magic High School: Reminiscence Arc (studio 8-bit) aired on December 31st, 2021. The franchise also has a movie from 2017, titled The Girl Who Summons the Stars (studio 8-bit). Spin-off anime The Honor at Magic High School by studio CONNECT aired throughout the Summer 2021 season.
