“To Your Eternity” episode 7 is out! We meet a young boy named Gugu and an old Booze Man at the village of Takunaha. Gugu becomes a brother to Fushi and they spend a lot of time together. The episode is titled, “The Boy Who Wants to Change.”
“To Your Eternity” episode 7 begins as it first tells us the story of the young boy named Gugu. He and his brother work tirelessly on the fields and the market every day for a better life. Although some of his money disappears, he has full trust in his brother. Gugu eventually meets a beautiful young girl named Rean at the market. As thanks for returning her lost dog, she gives her expensive family ring to Gugu. He becomes so happy from talking to his crush. Unfortunately, he comes home to discover that his brother left and ran away with their hard-earned money.
Nevertheless, Gugu continues to work every day. Unfortunately again, he gets into a horrible accident after saving Rean. The sad part is that no one finds him until later in the evening. The old Booze Man takes him in to tend to his wounds. When Gugu wakes up, he becomes frightened to see his deformed face. He wears an odd-looking mask to hide his “monster” face.
Fushi Meets Gugu
Now that we’re caught up in the present, Pioran and Fushi arrive at the liquor shop. Everyone gets acquainted with each other while Fushi shows them his abilities. Gugu quickly warms up to Fushi. They spend a lot of time together doing chores around the shop. Gugu even teaches him to say things like “I don’t know” and other human things. Gugu also opens up about his face looking like a “monster,” and that he and Fushi are a lot similar. In addition, we learn that Fushi is now afraid of the forest because of the Nokker’s attack. Fushi develops a lot in this episode. His social abilities are improving and he also expresses his fears now.
One time at a diner, the old Booze Man and Pioran talk about the money they can earn from Fushi. Gugu strongly disagrees with all of their plans. He says that Fushi is family — their “monster” family. He also says that Fushi is like a younger brother to him. “To Your Eternity” episode 7 is very wholesome so far. It’s really nice to see them all together acting like a family.
Gugu’s Determination
The episode continues as we see Rean appear at the shop. Gugu flusters as they converse about her inquiry for medicine for her injury. It’s all very cute until we discover that Rean actually likes Fushi! It’s hilarious how the scene unfolds. Especially when the Booze Man and Pioran are also listening from the back and answer in Fushi’s stead. Rean’s behavior is silly and Fushi is so oblivious to the situation.
The next thing we see is a sobbing Gugu on his bed. It’s actually really heartbreaking to think that the girl he has a crush on (and risked his life for) doesn’t know him. Plus, she likes someone else. Though it fascinates me that someone fancies Fushi. Anyway, the old Booze Man comes in to comfort Gugu. Despite all his weirdness, he manages to say something profound. The old man tells the boy that the time he spends depressed is time well spent. Surviving heartache will help him become a much more cultivated human being.
“To Your Eternity” episode 7 comes to a close as we see Gugu working hard to do pull-ups. He wants to become a man! Fushi attempts to join the workout but Gugu kicks him away. He then joins Pioran and the old man as they smile happily at Gugu’s strong determination.
My Favorite Episode so Far
“To Your Eternity” episode 7 was a good and easy watch this week. It’s pretty calm compared to all the previous intense episodes. I think we needed this break too. The interactions between Fushi and Gugu are so precious. Honestly, I love Gugu’s character and how good he is despite all of his hardship. I really don’t like his horrible accident and the fact that Rean doesn’t know him. (You could say that Gugu was crushed because he saved his crush.)
Except for Gugu’s accident, everything was wholesome. What makes Gugu unique is that he looks out for Fushi in such a protective and caring way, much like an older brother. Fushi has also learned and developed so much already too. I also like the reminder that heartache helps us become stronger people. Is this a warning though? It’s best that we should brace ourselves again for what’s coming soon. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst my fellow anime fans!
