Touken Ranbu Kai prequel anime movie, titled Touken Ranbu Kai: Douden Chikashi Haberau Monora, has revealed a key visual and teaser trailer ahead of its August 16 premiere in Japan. It will screen in theaters for 3 weeks only.
The movie will tell an original story focusing on Heshikiri Hasabe. Check out the key visual below.
The staff and voice cast are returning from the Touken Ranbu Kai: Kyoden Moyuru Honnouji anime. The main staff includes Ichikawa Kazuya as the director, Suemitsu Ken’ichi in charge of the series composition, Takada Madi as the character designer, and Kasai Ryuunosuke in charge of the music. Studio Domerica is back to animate. The voice cast includes:

The original concept for the Touken Ranbu anime comes from Touken Ranbu ONLINE, a sword training simulation game where famous swords transform into warriors and fight to protect history. Since its service started in January 2015, it has expanded into various media, including anime, musicals, console games, stage plays, movies, and more.
The story for the movie is described:
Yamanbagiri Kunihiro, who almost caused his team to be annihilated, voluntarily resigns as an attendant. Heshikiri Hasebe, appointed as the new attendant by their master, the Saniwa, is not satisfied with this new arrangement.
Ordered to go on an expedition by the Saniwa, Heshikiri pleads to have Yamanbagiri included in the team. Together with Tsurumaru Kuninaga, Shokudaikiri Mitsutada, Doudanuki Masakuni, and Ookurikara, they head to the Battle of Bitchu Takamatsu Castle.
Hashiba Hideyoshi’s forces, including Kuroda Kanbei, are building a dam for a water attack on Bitchu Takamatsu Castle. Meanwhile, at Honnouji Temple, Akechi’s forces are searching for Nobunaga’s head.
In this intersecting story, will they find their answers?
This is the tale of the close attendants that is inherited and repeated.
