Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!! manga author Take voiced a cat in the latest, 6th episode of the Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out Season 2. In the ending credits, his name is credited as Take for Cat. The manga creator revealed a behind-the-scenes story.
After the broadcast of the episode, the author updated his Twitter page with a post: “Thank you for watching the sixth episode! Check out [the anime] next week, too!”. It came with a one-page manga on how he ended up having the role. Someone suggested at a meeting for the script that Take play the voice of a weird cat in the episode. He thought of it as a joke and answered “Ahaha, then I’d have to train my voice for the project~“, which led him to stand in front of a mic on a later date. The anime’s sound director Yasunori Ebina gave him proper acting directions and told him he wasn’t bad at vocalization.
Take has been writing and drawing Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! manga on Niconico Seiga’s Dra Dra Sharp website since December 2017. The manga released the newest, 9th compiled volume in September 2022. The series inspired the first anime adaptation aired from July to September 2020 animated by studio ENGI, which continues to work on the second season currently airing this season.
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga for English releases and describes the plot as:
Sakurai Shinichi’s one wish is for a little peace and quiet. But Uzaki Hana–his boisterous, well-endowed underclassman–has other plans. All she wants is to hang out and poke fun at him. With the help of her chipper charm and peppy persistence, this might just be the start of a beautiful relationship!
