Wistoria: Wand and Sword Manga by DanMachi Author Gets Anime, First Trailer

The Wistoria: Wand and Sword manga series by DanMachi author Fujino Omori has announced an anime adaptation for July 2024. The anime will be directed by Chainsaw Man action director Tatsuya Yoshihara, who is also responsible for the screenplay. Sayaka Ono (Cross Ange Rondo of Angel and Dragon) will provide the character designs and animation direction. The series is a joint production between studios Actus and Bandai Namco Pictures.

The first cast members are Kohei Amasaki as the main character Will Serfort and Akira Sekine as Elfaria. The full Wistoria: Wand and Sword staff list can be viewed below:

Wistoria: Wand and Sword anime – First Teaser Visual

Penned by DanMachi‘s Omori, the Wistoria manga series is illustrated by Toshi Aoi and has been serialized in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine since December 2020. The series was nominated for the 2021 Next Manga Award and will release its latest eighth tomorrow on February 8, 2024. The announcement also revealed that DanMachi had passed 15 million copies in circulation.

Kodansha USA licenses the manga series for North America and describes the first volume:
RISE OF THE NO-TALENT Will Serfort dreams of keeping his promise to a childhood friend by becoming a Magia Vander, one of the mighty magicians who sit atop the Wizard’s Tower. However, he is unable to cast even the simplest of spells, leaving him to fight dungeon monsters to earn credits at Regarden Magical Academy. As if that weren’t enough, he finds himself putting his sword skills to the test against a bullying professor!
