My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission surpassed $35 million at the worldwide box office after earning $6.6 million in the US box office during opening weekend, according to Box Office Mojo. The film had a successful debut when it hit North American theaters on October 29 earning just above $2.8 million, which was more than what it earned in Japan in the first 10 days.
It has now earned more than the previous two My Hero Academia films—Two Heroes ($21 million) and Heroes Rising ($29.9 million). World Heroes’ Mission also beat out Heroes Rising‘s opening weekend sales ($5.8 million) and shattered Two Heroes‘ ($1.8 million).
There has been no word yet on a blu-ray release for the movie. One thing worth noting is that the Heroes Rising blu-ray took eight months to release after it hit US theaters while Two Heroes took five months.
My Hero Academia Creator’s Thoughts
When World Heroes’ Mission debuted in Japan back in August, creator Kouhei Horikoshi praised the movie and even mentioned crying at one point while giving praise to the new original character, Rody.
I watched the film. I was moved to tears of gratitude as a viewer. It was really fun! I’m purely grateful for the people involved [in the film] such as director Nagasaki. Rody was cooler than I had imagined! I wish he could appear in the main story. I wish so.

Season five of the series and World Heroes’ Mission have both come to pass. Now, My Hero Academia fans wait in anticipation for a season six release date announcement. The new season was confirmed shortly after the season five finale back in September.
Two Heroes and Heroes Rising were released in back-to-back years. But with season six expected to cover the Paranormal Liberation arc of the manga, who knows when the next My Hero Academia film could be. But World Heroes’ Mission‘s success at the worldwide box office could definitely pave the way for another film before the series ends.
