Miroku, Sango, Shippo, Kagome, and Inuyasha finally had their reunion in episode 46 of Yashahime. Looking back, they were separated by Sesshomaru 14 years ago because of his conflict with Zero. Inuyasha and Kagome were trapped in the tomb of the Great Dog Demon (Inuyasha and Sesshomaru’s father). Only Sesshomaru, Kirinmaru, and Jakken know that Inuyasha and Kagome’s whereabouts. For 14 years, many of their friends believed that they had been killed. Miroku and Sango continued their married life on Earth together with their siblings, while Shippo studied to become a great fox demon.
In episode 38, Sesshomaru sent Moroha, Towa, and Setsuna inside the Black Pearl, and there they met Inuyasha and Kagome. In episode 40, Kagome and Inuyasha finally returned to Earth after 14 years with the help of the three princesses. However, they didn’t have time to relax because they need to deal with Kirinmaru. The news that Inuyasha and Kagome came back has reached Miroku and Sango, but saving the people from the Degenerate Age that Kirin Osamu brought must be their first priority. The only ones Inuyasha and Kagome met were Shippo and Kaede.
After 6 episodes, Miroku and Sango finally had the reason to meet Inuyasha, Kagome, and Shippo without it interfering with their responsibilities. The Grim Butterfly was summoned by Kirin Osamu and aims to absorb all of the living demons in the world, and there’s no exception. To stop the massive butterfly, they will be needing the combined spiritual power of Kagome and Miroku’s Buddhist power. Sango’s new weapon can also wield a power that creates a barrier. Inuyasha had Takechiyo explain the situation to Miroku and Sango. Thus, the two rush into Inuyasha, Kagome, and Shippo’s aid along with the Demon Slayers. Using the powers of Miroku, Sango, and Kagome, they succeeded in sealing the movements of the Grim Butterfly. However, they’re only delaying the inevitable. Now that they suppressed the monster’s movement, all they can do is to believe in Setsuna, Moroha, Towa, and Riku, who are fighting against Rion and Kirin Osamu inside the body of the Grim Butterfly.
