You Can’t Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends anime revealed a key visual and a new trailer on Monday. Additionally, the series also revealed that Takehiro Urao is voicing the male protagonist, Yonosuke Sakai, and Hikari Kodama is singing the ending theme song “Amanojaku.” The anime will premiere in January 2026.
The cast of the main heroines includes:
- Shio Minamo (voiced by Rin Kurusu)
- Akari Hiodoshi (voiced by Yu Serizawa)
- Runa Tsukimi (voiced by Sae Hiratsuka)
- Haru Hinata ( voiced by Yuki Yamamoto)
Studio Tezuka Productions is animating the series based on a manga of the same name written and drawn by Shinya Misu. Mitsutaka Hirota is in charge of the series composition and Reina Iwasaki is designing the characters.
The story follows Eeyuu, a high school boy caught in a dilemma when his two childhood friends, Shio and Akari, suddenly became cute. Though neither girl shows romantic interest in him, Eeyuu struggles to hide his growing attraction and fearing the embarrassment if they ever found out. However, little did he know, Shio and Akari each harbor secrets of their own.
