The upcoming Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games anime revealed its first trailer, main staff information, and two additional cast members on Friday. Studio Diomedéa is animating the series set to premiere in 2025.
Shota Ihata is directing the anime with Wataru Watari in charge of the series composition. Mayuko Matsumoto is illustrating the character designs while Kana Hashiguchi is composing the music.
Shino Shimoji and Sayaka Sembongi join the cast as Tamaki Ichinose and Yu Inui respectively. The previously announced cast members were Ikumi Hasegawa as Aya Mitsuki and Kana Ichinose as Mio Yorue.
The anime is based on a manga series by Eri Ejima. It has been serialized in Media Factory’s Monthly Comic Flapper seinen manga magazine since January 2020. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English, and they describe it as follows:
An over-the-top comedy manga about delicate young ladies indulging in hardcore gaming–inspired a live-action series and an anime! Kuromi Girls’ Academy is a refined, elegant school that expects the very best in deportment from its young ladies. Aya got into this peerless rich-girls’ institution on a scholarship, and hopes to grow as lovely as her fellow student and idol Shirayui. But Shirayui hides a terrible secret: she’s a trash-talking, combo-chaining, newbie-stomping, ruthless hardcore gamer! Could a mutual indulgence in no-holds-barred video game combat grow into a deeper rapport between these two girls?
