HoYoverse has announced that Zenless Zone Zero will release Version 2.5, titled “To Be Fuel for the Night,” on December 30, 2025. The update will introduce new content tied to the climax of Season 2, including the debut of the game’s first dual-form Void Hunter, Ye Shunguang, and a new limited-time multiplayer event. The update will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, iOS, and Android.
Ye Shunguang, a senior disciple of Yunkui Summit, uses the Honed Edge attribute to shift into Enlightened Mind state, enabling high-output attacks and vulnerability debuffs. She also summons a Bangboo companion, Sprout, who launches ranged volleys of flying swords. Alongside her is Zhao, an S-Rank Ice Defense agent returning as a free unlock for all players. Zhao uses frostbite-based attacks and can trigger a team-wide Ether Veil buff. Both characters are featured in limited-time banners during this version’s runtime.
The update’s main storyline centers on the Hollow activity in Waifei Peninsula. The Qingming Sword, a recurring artifact, begins resonating with an unstable power, causing backlash in Ye Shunguang. Strange white flowers from within the Hollow spread across Failume Heights, pointing to the Lemnian Hollow’s expansion. The new chapter sends players into the Lumite Mine ruins, and you can watch the teaser trailer below.
In addition to the main story, an epilogue chapter titled Sword Seeker Chronicles extends Ye Shunguang’s arc and unlocks exclusive rewards. A separate multiplayer event, Joint Investigation: The Divine Maze, will introduce 3-player co-op combat with time-sensitive challenges built around team coordination.
Version 2.5 also brings structural changes and quality-of-life improvements. Players can now manage commissions and social features from the new Proxy Outpost, which allows creation and joining of public hubs. A new sweep function for Combat Simulations lets players exchange Ether Batteries for materials instantly, streamlining progression. Several existing agents (including Soldier 11, Grace, Anby (Soldier 0), Ellen, and Burnice) are getting rebalanced kits and performance updates. Standard gameplay modes such as Shiyu Defense and Deadly Assault are also getting refinements.
Advance Screening mode allows new and returning players to jump into Version 2.5’s content directly. A banner rerun in the latter half of the version will guarantee the first S-Rank pull to be one of Alice, Anby, or Astra, with their signature W-Engines returning under the same guarantee condition.
