There’s only one month left before Summer 2021 season ends. There’s a variety of different anime genres in this season such as romance, ecchi, comedy, shounen, and more. That said, over the past few years, isekai has been a very present genre and the Summer 2021 season is no exception, with 9 isekai titles airing. Three of them are sequels and the rest are new. This piece will focus on the new ones and why you should watch them if you aren’t already doing so.
1. How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom
This anime is a world-building isekai. Personally, I enjoy this show because the main character is an intellectual. Whenever he talks, I find myself rewinding because these scenes have a lot of information that is needed for the plot. He talks about agriculture, economy, money, and other necessary things needed to successfully run a kingdom. The titular protagonist of Realist Hero is not like the usual MCs out there who gets by with cheat powers. If you like cute female characters in isekai shows, you won’t be disappointed. and if you are curious about what it means to be a Realist Hero, you can just watch the show.
“O, Hero!” With that cliched line, Kazuya Souma found himself summoned to another world, and his adventure–did not begin. After he presents his plan to strengthen the country economically and militarily, the king cedes the throne to him and Souma finds himself saddled with ruling the nation! What’s more, he’s betrothed to the king’s daughter now…?!
In order to get the country back on its feet, Souma calls the wise, the talented, and the gifted to his side. Five people gather before the newly crowned Souma. Just what are the many talents and abilities they possess…?! What path will his outlook as a realist take Souma and the people of his country down? (via J-Novel Club)

2. Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles
This isekai is also kind of unique. If you are a fan of fantasies where spirits and magic are involved, you will surely love this anime. The story is about a young man who gets reincarnated as a new person in a mystical world. At first, he believes that he is really from that world. However, as he grows, he slowly remembers his past life on Earth, and eventually, he accepts that he is a reincarnation of a certain person.
The protagonist in this anime is OP, but you can also see his hardships before he becomes like that. I am also enjoying how the characters of this anime use magic and spirits. The story of the series involves adventuring and traveling as well. There are also tons of girls that you might ship with the MC. If you’re interested in all of those, just watch the show.
Meet Rio: a callous orphaned boy living in the slums. At only 7-years-old, he realizes he’s actually the reincarnation of Haruto Amakawa, a Japanese university student with a tragic past.
While still reeling from this shocking epiphany, Rio also comes to learn that he possesses extremely potent magical abilities and uses his new powers to solve the kidnapping case of a little girl. His good deed is acknowledged, and he’s rewarded by being enrolled into… a prestigious academy for noble children…? (via J-Novel Club)

3. The Dungeon of the Black Company
For me, this is a hardcore isekai. Many underpaid hard workers can relate to this anime. The protagonist was transported from Japan to another world just to work in unreasonable conditions. In the story, the protagonist builds his own underground company with the help of some monsters to escape the Black Company he’s working in. He plans to make himself wealthy using those monsters. The MC is intelligent and he can think rationally in all situations. However, he is not OP like the other protagonists in some isekai. To simply put it, he is just a strategist with a series of unfortunate events in life. The story also involves time traveling and cute girls. If those details pique your interest, you can give it a try to watch the anime.
Kinji had it made–a swank apartment, a real estate empire, and enough cash to lounge around living the good life. After a freak magical accident, he washes up in another world, all but enslaved to a crooked corporation.
In a fantastical land where money is everything, there’s only one way for an Earthling to get ahead: make your fortune, by any means necessary! Dragons, goblins, and the occasional dubious potion won’t stop Kinji’s quest for the world’s biggest bank account. The Black Company is open for business! (via Seven Seas Entertainment)
