86 Eighty Six Episode 2: The Spearhead Squadron and History of 86

86 Eighty Six Episode 2 is out! The previous episode gave us a hint on what the 86 are, and what kind of person Lena is. However, in 86 Eighty Six episode 2, it reveals the lifestyle of a particular unit on 86 called the “Spearhead Squadron.” Not only that, but Lena also reveals the true history of 86. The episode starts on the part where the first episode left us. Lena, with a smile on her face made a call to the Spearhead Squadron. It seems that she is happy working with them, unlike the other soldiers. What could be the true history of 86 that made Lena wants to treat them fairly?

Let’s check out below some of the details of 86 Eighty Six episode 2!

The Spearhead Squadron

The first part of 86 Eighty Six episode 2 contains actions with sound effects that I think engaging to the fans together with good animations. It revolves around how the members of the Spearhead Squadron do things, especially when it comes to battlefield. Here, a swarm of legions (enemy of the republic of San Magnolia) suddenly appears. As a result, Undertaker called his team to get ready for battle.

In the middle of the battle, Lena interacts with the Spearhead Squadron and commands them what to do, only to find out that she was too late and the team is already deployed. Lena often speaks in the middle of the battle because she cares for the unit she’s handling, and as a result, Undertaker scolded her.

Also, Undertaker shows to Lena what he and his companions are made of, and it impressed Lena to the point that she is praising Undertaker while talking to her friend.

The History of 86

After the battle, Lena came to the class of new volunteer soldiers. She found out what the professors teach students about 86. There, she stands up in front to inform the students the true history of 86. However, the students doesn’t seem to believe her. One of the them showed to her what the contents of the handbooks about the history of 86. What could it be? You can find the answer by 86 Eighty Six episode 2.

This section contains spoilers. Lena told the class the true history of 86. She said that 86 were also people that doesn’t have silver hair and eyes. The republic stripped their human rights and made them the ones to pilot the juggernauts (which are machines that are used in battle). The reason they are called 86 is because they are living in the republic’s 86th district. What is the reason why the republic made that decision?

Before the episode ends, Lena spoke to the unit she is handling on the night after their battle. It seems that she was making a call to them every night. There, Lena scolded Undertaker for not writing his report properly. She also communicates normally to the people on that unit and found out some details about them, especially about Undertaker.

It looks like Lena is becoming friends with the Spearhead Squadron. If you want to know more information about the history of 86 as well as some details that Lena learned about her team, you can watch the anime on Crunchyroll and don’t forget to vote it on our weekly poll.

Synopsis

A War Without Casualties. The Republic of San Magnolia has long been under attack from the neighboring Giadian Empire’s army of unmanned drones known as the Legion. After years of painstaking research, the Republic finally developed autonomous drones of their own, turning the one-sided struggle into a war without casualties-or at least, that’s what the government claims.

In truth, there is no such thing as a bloodless war. Beyond the fortified walls protecting the eighty-five Republic territories lies the “nonexistent” Eighty-Sixth Sector. The young men and women of this forsaken land are branded the Eighty-Six and, stripped of their humanity, pilot the “unmanned” weapons into battle…
