The upcoming Wind Breaker anime welcomes Ryota Suzuki, who will voice Toma Hiragi. Suzuki placed Top 20 in Anime Corner’s Spring 2023 Seiyuu Rankings and continues to voice some of the most iconic characters in anime. Sabikui Bisco‘s Bisco and Kaguya-sama: Love is War‘s Yu Ishigami are just some of the roles to his name.
The news was announced via Wind Breaker‘s official X (formerly Twitter) account, which will continue to debut new characters and cast every day by featuring them in stylish trailers. Currently, the Wind Breaker anime cast includes the protagonist Haruka Sakura, revealed to be voiced by Yuma Uchida (Reo, Blue Lock), followed by Kyotaro Sugishita (Koki Uchiyama, Shigaraki in My Hero Academia), Hayate Suo (Nobunaga Shimazaki, Mahito in Jujutsu Kaisen), and Hajime Umemiya (Yuichi Nakamura, Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen).
The anime is based on Satoru Nii’s Wind Breaker, which debuted in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket in 2021 and has been collected into 13 volumes as of August 2023. The manga was among AnimeJapan 2022‘s most desired works to get an anime adaptation. While further animation on the cast and staff is unavailable since the anime was announced with a teaser visual in March, a ‘special program‘ revealing more information is due on October 22. Studio CloverWorks will animate the series. Print copies of Wind Breaker by the North American licensor of the manga, Kodansha USA, are also expected this fall.
Kodansha USA describes the manga:
Haruka Sakura wants nothing to do with weaklings—he’s only interested in the strongest of the strong. He’s from Fuurin High School, a school of near-dropout degenerates known only for their brawling strength. And in a town known for its territorial disputes, Haruka’s got only one goal—become the hero his town deserves.
