ANYCOLOR's Riku Tazumi Releases Official Statement Amid Ongoing Nijisanji Controversy

Riku Tazumi, the CEO of ANYCOLOR, released an official video statement addressing several issues within Nijisanji. This comes after the VTuber agency received significant backlash due to the recent contract termination with Selen Tatsuki, one of Nijisanji English’s top talents.

In the six-minute video statement, Tazumi spoke in full English detailing several aspects of some of Nijisanji’s lapses, including support for its English VTubing department and how they will always value their clients and are “irreplaceable.”

One of the first things he addressed was the investors’ relation (IR) statement ANYCOLOR released on February 7. In it, they described to stakeholders that Tatsuki’s termination is “negligible” against the company’s financial results. While Tazumi clarified that the message was only meant for investors, he acknowledged that the language used was inappropriate.

Our wording lacked consideration for the situation and caused NIJISANJI EN fans and everyone who supports the VTuber industry to feel that ANYCOLOR Inc. undervalued the impact of Selen’s contract termination, or Selen herself. I deeply regret this outcome and will be rethinking how our communication in English is done.

He also acknowledged the importance of Tatsuki’s legacy in cultivating the growth of Nijisanji and is saddened that things have ended through the contract termination. In terms of cultivating a safe environment, Tazumi acknowledges that this conflict has not only affected them as a company but also the overall well-being of their talents.

We take full responsibility for this situation, where not only ANYCOLOR Inc. but also our Livers are receiving hurtful messages. I deeply apologize to our Livers and to everyone who supports them. Company actions have led to the distress of our Livers and we are taking this situation very seriously.
Please understand that some Livers may choose to temporarily step back from social media. The management team continues to communicate with Livers to provide any and all support in every way they can.

Midway through the statement, Tazumi acknowledged the lack of content in its English VTubing division and promised to work on it by recruiting more staff to this division to aid in the agency’s other content offerings aside from the typical content. Lastly, he touched base on how talents are “irreplaceable” and that beyond business partners, they are the most important individuals that they must protect as a company.

To everyone who has, and continues to, support the Livers, I am very sorry that situations were allowed to arise where our dedication to their well-being was not clear.
Once more, personally and on behalf of our company, I apologize to you all for causing concern. As ANYCOLOR Inc., we will do everything we can to ensure that we create and maintain an environment where the Livers can succeed in their creative endeavors.

Tazumi’s statement follows the recent termination of Tatsuki’s contract over an alleged breach of several agency policies, including non-compliance with rights confirmation and authorization flows, as well as unauthorized usage of works and assets belonging to others affiliated with ANYCOLOR. The conflict occurred when the company was already under pressure from English-speaking fans due to a recent series of talent graduations from the EN branch that called into question the management of the branch, recently of Kyo Kaneko and Pomu Rainpuff.
