ONE PIECE live-action season 2 has confirmed the cast for Kureha and Hiriluk. Doctor Kureha will be portrayed by Katey Sagal, while Mark Harelik has joined the cast as the wacky Doctor Hiriluk. You may know Katey Sagal as Peggy Bundy (Married… with Children), Gemma Teller Morrow in the FX series, as Jake Peralta’s mother Karen in Broklyn Nine Nine, or as the voice of Leela in Futurama.
As confirmed in Eiichiro Oda’s latest message, this season will cover Loguetown, Reverse Mountain (Twin Cape), Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island. In an interview with Deadline, the president of Tomorrow Studios previously teased that an ‘amazing person’ had been cast for Kureha’s role after being asked whether Jamie Lee Curtis would be joining.
The sequel previously revealed additional cast members, including 4 Baroque Works agents’ actors, Dorry, Brogy and Crocus, as well as Smoker, Tashigi, Wapol and Dalton.
The live-action series has Matt Owens (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Luke Cage) and Steven Maeda (The X-Files, CSI: Miami, Lost) serving as writers, executive producers, and showrunners. The creator, Eiichiro Oda, is also among the show’s executive producers. The first season made its debut on August 31, and it topped Netflix’s global English TV Ranking with 18.5 million total views, 140.1 million hours viewed and an average runtime of 7:34 hours. It kept its top spot in the 2nd week as well, marking a huge success for the adaptation. The producers previously said that the sequel’s production could last between 12 to 18 months after the SAG-AFTRA strike ended. The strike ended on November 9, 2023.
The ONE PIECE manga is written and drawn by Eiichiro Oda. It currently has 1122 chapters, while the anime adaptation is at 1116 episodes. VIZ Media licensed the manga in English, and Crunchyroll streams the anime. They describe the story:
