You Can Play As Frieren & Friends in New Immersive Anime Dungeon RPG Attraction in Japan

Sony Music Solutions Inc. announced via press release a new collaboration between the popular Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime series and the immersive, in-person RPG attraction Dungeon ∞ Spiral, located on the 4th floor of the Tokyu Kabukicho Tower in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The limited-time event runs from July 18 to September 23. Dungeon ∞ Spiral is an immersive, physical game experience where you become the player—teaming up in parties of 2–3 to challenge monsters, solve quests, and win gold medals. During the collaboration period, players have the option of choosing one of four Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End characters—Frieren, Fern, Stark, or Himmel—as a “Buddy Character”. Buddy Characters are priced at 1,500 yen (tax included) or around $10.

Each Buddy appears in the game with exciting new voice lines (140+ total, in Japanese) and stylish cut-in animations, cheering you on throughout your journey. You can summon your chosen Buddy again and again during the event. The entire gameplay experience is fully available in English—including instructions, interface, and staff support. However, the “Buddy Characters” from Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End speak in Japanese, with English subtitles.

As for limited-edition merchandise, “Choose a Buddy and receive a limited-edition ‘Buddy Crystal’ acrylic block as proof of your bond—perfect for collectors,” the press release continues. “For even more, grab the Premium Set (¥3,000), which includes the Buddy Crystal plus two ‘Memory Crystal’ keychains featuring beautiful anime scenes. A full set with all characters and an exclusive shopper bag is also available.

After playing Dungeon ∞ Spiral during the event window, you’ll get access to a free digital photo booth, where you can take pictures with Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End characters and share your experience online. (Note: May be limited during peak hours or special events. Readers are advised to check signs at the venue or updates on official social media.)

Starting on August 1, there will also be collaborations with Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End located throughout the Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, featuring themed treats and prizes. Details are below:

Set in a world after the Demon King’s defeat by the party of heroes, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End follows Frieren, an immortal mage who fought alongside the hero, as she embarks on a new journey and encounters new people along the way. Kanehito Yamada writes the series while Tsukasa Abe provides the art.

Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday publishes Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, which was officially revealed to have passed 30 million copies in circulation on July 16. The anime adaptation, whose first season aired from September 2023 to March 2024, returns for Season 2 in January 2026. Crunchyroll will stream the anime, dropping a new trailer for Season 2 at Anime Expo.

Dungeon ∞ Spiral was opened in March 2025, providing a physical RPG experience powered by Sony’s latest tech. Players work together in teams to:

  • Pull ropes and blast giant enemies
  • Kick balls to hit targets in soccer-style games
  • Jump and move in rhythm-based action

By moving your real body to control your avatar, you can defeat monsters and collect Golden Medals to become legendary adventurers. The press release teased Dungeon ∞ Spiral: “A perfect experience for friends, families, and couples, this unforgettable journey tests both your body and teamwork in a brand-new kind of game.” You can check out the facility & ticket information below:
