Recently, the world finally began a real major push for a safe internet haven for everyone, both neglected children and unassuming adults. Payment processors (including Visa, Mastercard, PayPal) have already forced Steam and Itch to delist thousands of games. It started with the NSFW, but we can rest assured that they’re planning get to the other problematic ones soon as well since they use terms as “potentially harmful to children” and that can basically apply to quite literally anything.
Disclaimer: This article discusses topics and includes words that may be unsuited for minors. Please refrain from reading below if you are under the legal age in your country, and come back to the article when you’re not. SOME sarcasm may have also found its way in, so be wary if you are not used to detecting it.
I’ll try not to go too far away from the topic before even starting it, but here are some important pieces of information before we get into which anime will hopefully also soon be nowhere near our gentle retinas as the entire world finally works together and collaborates on such an important endeavor.
You can click the links and ask ChatGPT to summarize them (prompt: “How can the government abuse this? Explain it to me like I’m 5” should give an interesting answer, but do understand that the silly AI can be too skeptical and distrusting for no reason), or you can just skip the list below to get to the main part.
- UK Online Safety Act (OSA): Following the processors’ brilliant move, this push only really began to look promising after the UK’s Online Safety Act from 2023 caused major changes, requiring platforms to age-verify users or provide a “child-appropriate” experience. Adult sites must now block access to under-18s using highly effective age checks or face fines or UK-wide bans, with Ofcom enforcing the law against illegal content since March.
- Services like Reddit, Spotify, and X (Twitter) responded earlier in July by restricting unverified access to adult content in the UK, with users from other regions also reporting restricted access. Bluesky also implemented age verification on July 10, 2025.
- Spotify and YouTube have already begun age checks: Spotify now verifies users’ age in the UK before allowing access to 18+ content, using Yoti, a UK-based facial age estimation company. YouTube is rolling out AI-powered age estimation globally, flagging likely teens for stricter content limits. If uncertain, it may request a selfie, credit card, or ID to really make sure no minors are watching scary content.
Users are also encouraged to trust their data will be in safe hands, as we know companies never sell our data and all those ads that may hit your screen minutes after you speak about something related to it near a device are purely coincidental. - Brussels site-blocking order: Not content with simply nudging ISPs, the Business Court in Brussels issued a sweeping ruling in July 2025 that demands search engines like Google, DNS providers, payment processors, hosting services, and even Elon Musk’s Starlink block access to so-called “pirate libraries” like Anna’s Archive, Z-Library, LibGen, and even the Internet Archive’s Open Library. The court found “clear and significant infringement” and didn’t bother inviting the Internet Archive to the hearing. Belgian users will now be protected from borrowing scanned books, including many in the public domain.
- EU Digital Services Act (DSA): The EU’s Digital Services Act bans targeted ads to minors and requires platforms to mitigate risks to under-18s. In July 2025, the EU issued guidelines under Article 28 recommending age assurance for adult content, including ID checks or facial estimation. Platforms like Meta, TikTok, and Google now default teen accounts to privacy-friendly settings to comply.
- Australia’s under-16 social media ban: Australia passed a law banning under-16s from using social media starting later in 2025. Platforms must verify users’ age or face fines up to A$50 million. The government is testing multiple methods, including AI-based facial estimation, run by the UK’s Age Check Certification Scheme and supported by Yoti and others. Users “must” be offered a non-ID option as well, for “privacy.”
- Companies leading the age verification tech:
- Yoti (UK) powers age checks for Spotify, Instagram, YouTube, and Australian trials.
- Au10tix (Israeli company that was involved in a major data breach a year ago in June 2024) is partnered with X (Twitter) for ID and age verification.
- Persona (US) is used by Reddit in the UK.
- k-ID (France/US) provides face scanning for Discord and gaming platforms.
Now that the annoying facts are out of the way, let’s get to the real meat of this article: the top 10 anime that must be censored or completely deleted from this world faster as quickly as legally possible. Some of them are already banned in certain regions, but there can be no peace until we go worldwide.
Redo of Healer
Let’s start with the most obvious one. Extreme violence, revenge torture, abuse and rape? No one’s eyes, let alone brains, should be subject to the mental torture that is Redo of Healer. Sure, one might say that people deserve to have the freedom to watch whatever they want as adults. But one would be wrong. Rather than wasting time, resources, and energy trying to teach people to differentiate between fiction and reality, it’s always been easier to just focus on making the fiction safer to consume.
Child or adult, everyone knows that the only entity that truly know what is good for us is the government, though we now learned that the payment processors also seem to be privy to that knowledge. Being able to turn off our brains and know that all our content will be safe and properly filtered will be the pinnacle of humanity, and it is finally looking like the foundation is being set. Only the most degenerate would argue against banning Redo of Healer, but hopefully there will be laws to deal with them as supporters of these horrifying taboos as well.
Prison School
Then we must turn our attention to another menace to modern society, albeit slightly less extreme: Prison School. With rampant depiction of cleavage, exaggerated masochism, and cartoonish voyeurism, it’s clear that no rational adult should be allowed within ten feet of this immoral disaster. The creators may claim it’s a satire, but you should know that comedy is dangerous when it makes us feel uncomfortable. The safest path forward is clear: absolute censorship.
After all, nothing promotes cultural health like removing anything remotely suggestive or absurd from public view. Who needs artistic freedom when we can entrust our entertainment to a morally superior panel of experts? And let’s be honest, if you laughed at Prison School, you’ve already failed as both a citizen and human. Ideally, laws will soon finally be instated to protect the rest of us from your taste in anime.
High School DxD
And now we can arrive at the crown jewel of cultural decay: High School DxD. The second show on this list with “school” in its name that ironically must never be seen by anyone attending one. This is a show so vile and irredeemably heretic that it dares to combine supernatural action with, brace yourself, oppai (boobs). How are we, as a civilized species, expected to thrive when teenage boys are exposed to winged demons and all the fully animated jiggling?
The idea that this is somehow “fanservice” or “harmless fantasy” is laughable at best, and infuriatingly dangerous at worst. We need to lock this menace away before it announces Season 5, along with any viewers who dare defend it and are hopeful for a sequel. With the government’s gentle hand guiding our confused moral compass, we can finally reach a future where not even a single animated bust will offend our delicate receptors.
Perhaps the words “ara ara” are deserving of being banned as well, but that’s a conversation society is not ready yet and we’ll leave it for later.
Elfen Lied
And then there’s Elfen Lied, the story of exploding heads, dismembered limbs, and naked telekinetic murder girls. A landmark achievement in corrupting youth and traumatizing anyone who accidentally clicks “play” and watches the entire thing. The show tries to pass itself as “deep” and “emotional,” but don’t be fooled. It’s nothing more than a gateway drug to psychological instability.
Just because it explores themes like trauma, abuse, and humanity’s dark instincts doesn’t mean it has the right to exist. Art isn’t supposed to make us think or feel uncomfortable, it’s supposed to be safe, morally uplifting, and ideally government-approved, just like the real world.
If you cried during Elfen Lied, it wasn’t because of the tragedy. It was because your soul was already rotting.
Goblin Slayer
Goblin Slayer. Okay, maybe Episode 1 is the only one that must be completely cleansed, but it seems easier to just delete the entire thing. Our fragile minds are better left unaware of the horrors of goblins and more brutal revenge, right? Wrong. While the graphic violence and sexual abuse are horrifying and must be toned down/removed, those goblins are also potential victims of dehumanization.
They are depicted as purely evil, animalistic creatures with little to no redeeming qualities, but this black-and-white portrayal of creatures that can’t be reasoned with or redeemed contributes to a harmful, oversimplified worldview. There has to be a way to fairly represent goblins.
Can you imagine a world where no one is forced to watch anything uncomfortable, and where all media is lovingly filtered? Me neither, but hopefully soon we won’t have to imagine. I want to be able to randomly go to any streaming service of the 10 different ones I have to pay for and not worry that any random piece of content will have anything that may offend me or I may not like.
In any case, only the most degenerate souls would argue that Goblin Slayer deserves to exist uncensored.
Death Note
You know, I used to be afraid of having kids because I was worried I wouldn’t have the time and resources to raise them properly. I thought leaving them alone at the mercy of the Internet to handle that part of their development would be risky and they could end up learning all kinds of horrible things. However, now I’m starting to feel safer, and I’m grateful that the governments are dedicated to making sure the Internet is a safe space for them. I may just be able to completely ignore them as I tackle the happy real world after all, knowing that the online space is clear of that reality and my kids will only watch the thought-provoking smart cartoons they are meant to watch, clear of subliminal messages and dangers to their growth and free thinking.
Now you might be thinking that we are getting into the ‘stretch’ territory, but I believe Death Note is just as deserving of scrutiny as Redo of Healer or any other form of free expression. What is it, really, if not a glorified exercise in egoism and delusion? A teenager empowered with godlike abilities, playing judge, jury, and executioner? The show romanticizes the idea of absolute power in the hands of a morally ambiguous individual. It’s like handing a sharp knife to a toddler and calling it “philosophical.”
Sure, it might make you think, but only about how our generation has consistently become more filled with sociopaths. Can you imagine not understanding the benefit of making every single legal process and investigation last anywhere between 3 years and forever. #notmyworld
Watching Death Note is genuinely like inviting the darkness into your soul, and encouraging kids to eat sweets is an added minus (looking at you, L).
Naruto / Naruto: Shippuden
Let’s now pretend that we have rid the world of all the obscene content described above. It’s time to tackle the more subtle yet equally destructive players in the game that have for decades successfully passed off as fiction and eluded authorities.
The most annoying arguments I hear defending this are along the lines of “uhh it was made during a different time,” “there are cultural differences between Japan and the rest of the world,” or “it’s targeted at young males, aka shonen (the alleged demographic of its magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump).”
Why should content that was made in the past be exempt from our current Western standards? The ancient people from before 2000 have mostly passed on anyway, and the young minds are still being poisoned due to their ways of thinking and “having fun.” So what needs to be censored? Let’s see, how about the sexualizing of minors (“sexy jutsu,” please…) for fun and jokes, sexism with female characters revolving around male ones (Sakura with Sasuke, Hinata with Naruto, etc.) and not being as developed, potential racism with The Cloud Village (Kumogakure)…?
While Rock Lee’s determination to succeed without the use of ninjutsu is admirable, it is also framed in a way that suggests being able-bodied is the “ideal” for success. His story is ultimately about overcoming a perceived disability rather than embracing his limitations. This could be interpreted as ableist because it frames the idea of having a physical “defect” (in Lee’s case, his inability to perform ninjutsu) as something that needs to be “fixed” or “overcome” to be worthwhile or valuable. We know today that we are all perfect just as we are, and that there is no need for this toxic “self-improvement” lifestyle.
Similarly, Neji is a strong believer in the concept of fate and destiny. Early in the series, he shows a nihilistic view of life, believing that those born into certain circumstances (like him in the subjugated branch family, with his “lesser” status in the clan) have no chance of changing their fate. The idea that you have to “fight against fate” to find meaning in life might feel dismissive of the struggles of people who live with disabilities or societal oppression and are not in a position to “fight” against these forces.
Finally, violence is often glorified. What if some minor sees Sakura punching Naruto and thinks that it’s okay to hit anyone? What if they go on to brutally hit some celebrity? Who will take responsibility? I sure hope it will be Masashi Kishimoto rather than some innocent parent.
Demon Slayer
This one might be a bit harder due to its current popularity and the fact its first of three final arc movies is already breaking records just in Japan alone. But, what if we could get it censored/deleted before it even hit the entire world with all its problematic themes? Maybe it’s not too late.
Glorifying violence. Tanjiro and his friends go around hacking and slashing those demons as if it’s the most normal thing in the world. They veil it as self-defense and protection, failing to realize that the real world minors who are forced to go theaters and watch it are being desensitized to violence.
Then of course, we have to address the obvious sexualization of minors and women in general. Nezuko and Shinobu are both presented in ways that some might perceive as overly sexualized or objectified, and they would therefore be correct as you can’t be wrong with an opinion. In Nezuko’s case, it’s way worse as she’s under the age we consider legal.
As with most of these so-called “shonen” works, female characters in general are often overshadowed by their male counterparts, which can be seen as reinforcing outdated gender norms. That’s just the tip of the non-existing gender representation iceberg. Today, demographics in general need to be abolished, and every piece of media needs to be a safe space for everyone. Why should a young girl who decides to read a magazine aimed at young boys not have just as good of an experience? Absolute equality for all must be reached in all media, just as we’ve successfully done in the real world.
Demon Slayer also frequently frames characters’ deaths (particularly the deaths of villains and supporting characters) as tragic yet beautiful, sometimes elevating the pain and suffering into something poetic. It also clearly romanticizes the idea of suffering, particularly through the deaths of characters, some of whom are tortured for years or who die in painful, drawn-out ways. This trivializes the real emotional and psychological impact of such suffering, especially if (young and impressionable) viewers are led to believe that extreme pain or loss is noble or redemptive.
Finally, this story encourages a class and hierarchy system, for which we have no place in 2025. Why should a select few of the strongest and most hard-working get any privileges higher than the rookie Demon Slayers? Both the Hashira and Upper Moon demons suggest rigid class structures and power dynamics, with the lower ranks expected to be subservient. This goes against freedom, as only government officials deserve to have any privileges and benefits from the lower-ranked members of society (no that’s not the same, they earned it).
I sure don’t remember any of the Hashira or demons getting voted through a transparent democratic process alike the robust and bullet-proof ones we have in the real world.
Attack on Titan
The penultimate entry on this list, a titan of popularity that must have its nape cut down by the serene blade of censorship. Attack on Titan is filled with intense, graphic violence right from the first episode, and no content warning can be trusted to protect innocent minors from watching and thinking it’s cool to slash ugly non-humans, a group that is dehumanized and brutally slaughtered without fair trials. They frame and glorify it as self-defense, but, for all we knew at the time, those poor titans may have just been looking for food without being aware their actions were hurting the people they ate.
Just like with most of the anime in this list, female characters are often shaped by their relationships with male characters. This is especially the case with Mikasa, who is one of the strongest characters in the series yet constantly focused on her love for Eren (and the patriarchy).
Wall Maria, Wall Rose, and Wall Sina? Clear isolationist enclaves. Additionally, Eren Yeager’s arc with the Marleyan Empire and the Eldian oppresion in the final seasons goes into themes of nationalism, fascism, revenge, and ethnic cleansing. We just managed to stop modern people from discussing this from our real history, so why are we showing it in fiction?
Seriously, the sheer level of emotional abuse, grief, and violence in this story can be very triggering for some viewers, particularly those who have experienced real-world trauma (which is not very likely considering the state of the world today, but still not totally impossible).
One Piece
And finally, we arrive to the behemoth, the work of fiction which absolutely has to be canceled before it’s finished and its dangerous ideas are fully depicted. Let’s set aside the grossly sexualized female characters, glorified violence and abuse (don’t even try to say they’re depicted in a proper way, we can’t entitledly assume minors and uneducated adults will have the reading comprehension to understand what they are consuming), and promotion of alcohol and smoking through the future pirate king’s “wings.” One Piece is guilty on most of the accounts from the previous entries here, but it goes a fine step further.
One Piece promotes an outrageous idea that makes it deserving of being at the very top of this list, and that is of course the depiction of the government and its officials. The very core of the entire work needs to be shaken, since the main character is a law-breaking pirate. He goes around selfishly “liberating” islands, without any concern for the fully-functioning slave systems. Don’t you see how this may romanticize revolution?
In the work, the World Government is depicted as an evil entity that alters history and puts obedient pawns as leaders in all the kingdoms. It shows the five Gorosei, the main leaders, as operating from the shadows, and even they are only pawns of a singular entity that seems to have lived through generations. What if a child watches this and thinks the real world has a similar mechanism in place? Truly a horrifying thought.
Of all the blasphemous minds alive in the world today, Eiichiro Oda is the one that needs to have his hard drive checked the most. I know it’s completely worthless and already available, but I’d be willing to bet my entire personal information and freedom that an investigation into his devices would show damning evidence that this man reads history books and tries to think freely. Might even need to be locked up if he refuses to make the World Government the good guys to be a more accurate depiction of reality.
I hope it’s not too late to make the One Piece some device that enslaves all the people and make them mindlessly listen to its owner. Then the entire world will be at peace, and anyone who dares question something like 30-55% taxes on anything they “earn” can quickly be locked up. Do what’s right.
And that brings me to the end of this list. While I focused on the top 10 anime I personally find most deserving of censorship/removal, I fully understand that every single work of fiction is inherently offensive to someone and should therefore also be tackled without mercy. Fiction has no reason to be different from reality, and all authors must aim to learn all of history before attempting to write something in order to make everyone feel welcomed and safe. Then we can get rid of the annoying trigger warnings and demographics, and we can have unified way to enjoy watching all content without dangers of accidentally consuming things that may make us feel bad.
Additional note: The entire medium actually has a dangerous artstyle that seems to be pedofilic in nature. 5000-year-old elf? What do you mean I have to read a work to understand its setting? If it looks like a minor, it’s a minor, and is therefore dangerous to society and needs to be banned. I hope we can tackle this soon too so that fiction can also begin to look like the real world too, rather than just feeling like it.
Additional additional note: It’s also reassuring to see that the government is finally firm in its stance and that no petition can change their minds. Over 400,000 people signed the petition to repeal the UK Online Safety Bill, and the government flatly said their opinions are worthless without even trying to be subtle about it. True world peace is almost nigh. There is also a petition against the payment processors that has over 200,000 signatures, but that’s also easy to ignore.
A Steam user by the username of @daicon recommends voicing concerns directly to officials and compiled a list of actions to take. I instead encourage you to report this user for inciting rebellion and abuse towards the kind people working on making the internet a safe place for everyone.
Finally, I want to thank everyone who understands this and is actively doing nothing and so quietly supports the movement. The selectiveness of your voice is truly inspiring and the cornerstone of the entire process, and we are lucky that the authorities are after only the bad stuff and not the stuff we actually like ourselves (some may call us hypocrites for advocating censorship of some harmful content but not all the other, so it’s a much better way to just delete everything just to be safe).
Let’s continue to not work together so we can make sure our millionaire government officials can continue to not abuse anything and work on the betterment of both fiction and the real world in our names.
