Background on Demon Slayer

The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga was created by Koyoharu Gotoge, being serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020. It was compiled into a total of 23 volumes.

The anime, produced by ufotable, premiered in April 2019 with a 26-episode first season, followed by the breakthrough Mugen Train film in 2020. The movie became a box office sensation in Japan and played a major role in popularizing anime films globally. A revival screening of Mugen Train began in Japanese cinemas earlier this year to hype the new release.

The anime’s release timeline so far:

  • Season 2: October 2021 – February 2022 (including a re-edited version of Mugen Train)
  • Season 3: April – June 2023
  • Season 4: May – June 2024
  • Infinity Castle: July 18 in Japan
