Attack on Titan Now Holds a Guinness Record for the "Largest Comic Book Published"

Attack on Titan manga now holds Guinness Record for largest comic book published, Kodansha announced in a press release.

Kodansha previously announced the release of a “super-sized” Volume 1 edition in March, as part of a promotional campaign for the manga’s last chapter. The book weighed over 13kg and was 1 meter long and 70cm wide – designed to be read by Eren in his titan form. It went on sale on March 6th and sold out in under 2 minutes.

Guinness World Records certification depended on 100 copies sold – a task easily achieved. The price of the volume was around 1500 USD. Attack on Titan’s Guinness Record for the largest comic book published was certified on April 13th in Bunkyo, Tokyo, Japan.

Attack on Titan Manga Ends

Attack on Titan manga ended this April, after over 11 years and 139 chapters. However, fans of the franchise still have the anime to look forward to. Part 2 of the final season is scheduled to air in January 2022. Studio MAPPA is animating the final season, while Studio WIT did the first 3 seasons.

Kodansha, the publisher for the series, describes the plot as:

A century ago, the grotesque giants known as Titans appeared and consumed all but a few thousand humans. The survivors took refuge behind giant walls. Today, the threat of the Titans is a distant memory, and a boy named Eren yearns to explore the world beyond Wall Maria. But what began as a childish dream will become an all-too-real nightmare when the Titans return and humanity is once again on the brink of extinction…

Attack on Titan’s Guinness Record is the latest in a long list of accomplishments for the series. The final, 34th volume of the manga releases on June 9th, 2021.
