Fall 2021 Anime Season Looking to Be Stacked

Although the Summer 2021 anime season is just about to start, I can’t help but think about how stacked the upcoming Fall season looks! Let’s see some of the shows we expect to premiere in about 3 months:

Demon Slayer Season 2

Right off the bat, we have Demon Slayer Season 2, which has been officially announced for Fall 2021 and Winter 2022. In addition, Funimation also announced it would stream it this year.

With that said, the story will continue right after the Infinity Train film. Our boys will join the flamboyant Sound Hashira, Tengen Uzui, and move on to the next battle against the demons in the Red Light District Arc. The official synopsis goes:

Tanjiro and his friends accompany the Hashira Tengen Uzui to an entertainment district where Tengen’s female ninja agents were gathering information on a demon before they suddenly disappeared. In order to investigate, Tanjiro and the others disguise themselves as women to sneak in!

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Part 2

Rudeus will be coming back on October 3, 2021! Mushoku Tensei was originally scheduled for this Summer, but it got delayed once. The story will continue after the trio went on their adventure, with Roxy on her way across the ocean. Studio Bind delivered amazing animation for the first part, and it’s exciting to wait for the continuation and probably more intense action and story! Watch the latest trailer:

Komi Can’t Communicate

Another one of the highly anticipated anime adaptations, Komi Can’t Communicate is also confirmed for October 2021. It will release in Japan on October 7, while Netflix will start streaming it globally two weeks later on October 21. The beloved Aoi Koga (Kaguya-sama, Paimon) will be voicing Komi, and you know it’s going to be wholesome! Fans quickly got hyped, and you can check the official synopsis:

The journey to 100 friends begins with a single conversation. Socially anxious high school student Shoko Komi’s greatest dream is to make some friends, but everyone at school mistakes her crippling social anxiety for cool reserve! With the whole student body keeping their distance and Komi unable to utter a single word, friendship might be forever beyond her reach. Timid Tadano is a total wallflower, and that’s just the way he likes it. He lives to blend in with the background. All that changes when he finds himself alone in a classroom on the first day of high school with the legendary Komi. He quickly realizes she isn’t aloof, she’s just super awkward. Now he’s made it his mission to help her on her quest to make 100 friends!

The next part of the stacked Fall 2021 anime season list will all be new shows, though ones that have a high chance of being awesome:

Takt Op. Destiny

A surprising announcement from MAPPA’s 10-Year Anniversary stage, a co-production between them and MADHOUSE! The story for the anime goes:

One day, a black meteorite fell on the world, and the world completely changed. The meteorite produced grotesque monsters called D2, which started running rampant. D2 very quickly banned all music, which was the one thing able to overcome them. But there were some people who resisted the D2. They are young women who hold the power of music, the “Musicart.” These young women hold “scores” that are able to defeat the monsters. And there are also people who lead these women, the Conductor.

Blue Period

Blue Period anime is an adaptation of the seinen art manga of the same name by Tsubasa Yamaguchi. Netflix will stream it in Japan on October 1, while the worldwide release is set for a week later. It will then release weekly.

The synopsis:

Yatora is the perfect high school student, with good grades and lots of friends. It’s an effortless performance, and, ultimately…a dull one. But he wanders into the art room one day, and a lone painting captures his eye, awakening him to a kind of beauty he never knew. Compelled and consumed, he dives in headfirst — and he’s about to learn how savage and unforgiving art can be!

The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat

Another work from the creator of Redo of Healer, although not nearly as extreme. Premieres in October 2021 after a delay from Summer. The synopsis for it goes:

The greatest assassin on Earth knew only how to live as a tool for his employers—until they stopped letting him live. Reborn by the grace of a goddess into a world of swords and sorcery, he’s offered a chance to do things differently this time around, but there’s a catch…He has to eliminate a super-powerful hero who will bring about the end of the world unless he is stopped. Now known as Lugh Tuatha Dé, the master assassin certainly has his hands full, particularly because of all the beautiful girls who constantly surround him. Lugh may have been an incomparable killer, but how will he fare against foes with powerful magic?

King Ranking

The upcoming project from WIT Studio, this already looks unique and engaging. Unlike Vivy from this season, it’s not an original anime. Instead, it’s adapting the manga by Sousuke Touka. The synopsis:

The story centers around Bojji, a deaf, powerless prince who cannot even wield a children’s sword. As the firstborn son, he strives hard and dreams of becoming the world’s greatest king. However, people mutter about him behind his back as “a good-for-nothing prince” and “no way he can be king.”

Bojji is able to make his first ever friend, “Kage” (shadow)—a literal shadow on the ground who somehow understands Bojji well. (Kage is a survivor of the Kage assassin clan that was all but wiped out. No longer a killer, Kage now makes ends meet by stealing.) The story follows Bojji’s coming-of-age as he meets various people in his life, starting with his fateful encounter with Kage.

Funimation will stream the anime starting October 15, and you can also watch the trailer for the fantasy comedy anime:

The Faraway Paladin

Another upcoming isekai, this also has the potential to mark the season together with Mushoku and Shield Hero. The manga has a devoted following, and the synopsis goes:

In a city of the dead, long since ruined and far from human civilization, lives a single human child. His name is Will, and he’s being raised by three undead: the hearty skeletal warrior, Blood; the graceful mummified priestess, Mary; and the crotchety spectral sorcerer, Gus. The three pour love into the boy, and teach him all they know. But one day, Will starts to wonder: “Who am I?” Will must unravel the mysteries of this faraway dead man’s land, and unearth the secret pasts of the undead. He must learn the love and mercy of the good gods, and the bigotry and madness of the bad. And when he knows it all, the boy will take his first step on the path to becoming a Paladin.

Mieruko-chan

We’re all used to romantic comedies by now, so here’s an interesting premise: A Horror-Comedy! Mieruko-chan is also coming in October 2021, and the synopsis goes:

One day, Miko suddenly started seeing grotesque beings that others couldn’t. Her response was not to run, not to face them, but to do everything she could to completely ignore them! Can she keep a straight face and continue her day-to-day life while surrounded by horrifying monsters?

It has a trailer as well:
