MAPPA 10th Anniversary Event, held on June 27th, commemorated the milestone for the popular studio. Multiple panels featuring some of MAPPA’s most popular works were part of the event, along with announcements for some new titles. Tenshin Mukai hosted the event.
The event lasted over 5 hours, and had seven panel discussions, along with commercial breaks and 2 new short announcements. Among the new titles are takt:op Destiny and a new movie, Alice and Therese’s Illusion Factory.
In addition to the announcements, a visual commemorating the event was also revealed. It features some of the most popular characters from MAPPA anime, such as Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kakegurui, Yuri on Ice, and Dororo.
Zombie Land Saga
Franchouchou members represented Zombie Land Saga on the MAPPA event stage. There were no new announcements regarding the anime, but the cast promoted their upcoming event. The live event, “Makuhari Messe 2 Days”, is happening in October at the Makuhari Messe event hall. In addition to the main cast, Kana Hanazawa will be making an appearance.
Idaten Deities in the Peaceful Generation
Idaten Deities in the Peaceful Generation is premiering on July 22nd, 2021. Voice actresses Romi Park and Megumi Ogata were guests on the stage, along with the director Seimei Kidokoro.

Re-Main
Re-Main also had its moment during the 10th Anniversary Event. Yuto Uemura (Minato’s voice actor), Masafumi Nishida (chief director, original creator, series composition), and Kiyoshi Matsuda (director) spoke about the upcoming anime. The anime begins airing on July 3rd, 2021.

Jujutsu Kaisen
Jujutsu Kaisen panel didn’t bring any news, but it was interesting nonetheless. Voice actors Asami Seto, Junya Enoki, and Yuma Uchida talked about their experiences and favorite scenes. A producer for the series, Keisuke Seshita was also a guest.
Yasuke
LeSean Thomas was also part of the MAPPA event. He spoke about moving to Japan to work on anime, as well as the inspirations behind Yasuke. He looked back on working with MAPPA as a director and compared the production process to the one in the US.
takt op Destiny
The upcoming takt op Destiny anime didn’t have any guests, but revealed its first PV, along with a key visual. MAPPA and MADHOUSE are co-producing the anime, which begins airing on October 5th, 2021.
Attack on Titan
Attack on Titan was one of the most-anticipated panels. Yuki Kaji, Marina Inoue, and Ayane Sakura were guests, along with Yuichiro Hayashi (the director) and Kohta Yamamoto (the composer). Although many were hoping for a new PV, only a new teaser visual for part 2 of the Final Season was revealed:
Chainsaw Man
The star of the MAPPA 10-year anniversary event was certainly the upcoming Chainsaw Man adaptation. The manga editor, Rin Shihei, and MAPPA president Manabu Otsuka were the guests. In addition to the key visual, an official PV was revealed. There is still no release date.
Alice and Therese’s Illusion Factory
The final announcement of the day was for the upcoming movie Alice and Therese’s Illusion Factory. This is MAPPA’s first original movie, and it will be directed by Mari Okada. Mari Okada directed Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms movie, but she also worked on other popular titles such as Black Butler. A key visual was revealed, as well as the PV.
Mappa 10th Anniversary Stage
Mappa’s 10th Anniversary Stage was a live event, streamed on their official YouTube account. The official Twitter account also kept track of the events. The event was part of the celebration to commemorate a decade of the studio, since MAPPA was founded on June 14th, 2011.
