Attack on Titan, also known as Shingeki no Kyojin, helps to wipe out trash in Japan with themed trash cans.
The Nippon Foundation installed a titan-shaped trash can at the central part of Oita city on September 14, 2021, to raise awareness of garbage sorting and recycling. The author, Hajime Isayama, was born in the prefecture.
The titan widely opens its mouth, and a woman shares her opinion shortly in the NHK’s video. She says that people would feel scared in front of the titan and sort out their rubbish as a result.
This is not the first time they installed this kind of trash cans. On June 9, 2021, in Hita city of the same prefecture, a titan-shaped box appeared to commemorate the release of the manga’s final volume. According to the order from Erwin Smith, this titan has settled down at the “dirty” place, so that people could insert rubbish, but only their cans, bins, and pet bottles to exterminate.

Isayama Hajime has been writing and illustrating the manga series in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine from September 9, 2009, to April 9, 2021. It has sold over 100 million copies all over the world with a total of 34 volumes.
