Tokyo Revengers Manga Exceeds 40 Million Circulating Copies

The manga written and illustrated by Ken Wakui, Tokyo Revengers, continues to sell incredibly well, and it now has over 40 million copies in circulation! According to Oricon, that’s 8 times more than it had 1 year ago. It has sold over 35 million copies within a year, and it’s still going strong. They also noted that the anime and live-action boosted it in the last 6 months, when it sold about 30 million copies. The cover of Volume 24:

The time frames and circulating copies are as follows:

  • September 18, 2020:5 million copies
  • February 10, 2021:8 million copies
  • March 31, 2021:10 million copies
  • May 10, 2021:14.5 million copies
  • September 24, 2021:40 million copies

As we know, the Tokyo Revengers manga recently entered its final arc, and it’s outselling most manga at the moment. The anime concluded with episode 24, and there’s been no news of a sequel yet. The live-action movie also did really well, and 40 million copies sounds like Tokyo Revengers definitely has the fandom for more content.

In case you can’t wait for the sequel, you can catch up to the manga instead. Kodansha publishes the manga digitally, while Crunchyroll streamed the first season of the anime. The story:

The big battle between Toman and Valhalla ends in Toman’s victory. When Takemichi returns to the future… he’s one of Toman’s top brass! Some of them, unfamiliar to Takemichi, are former members of the Black Dragons, creating a divide among the admins. At that moment, Kisaki shows up. And what shocking truth will Naoto reveal?! (Kodansha)

How far can it go above 40 million copies will be interesting, and let’s hope Tokyo Revengers has an awesome conclusion coming!
