Attack on Titan anime recently revealed a cover for Blu-ray Volume 4 of the Final Season Part 2 and with it a fun piece of information for the fans: the fact that Attack on Titan author, Hajime Isayama, revealed the name of Eren’s final titan form. In case you aren’t up to date with the story, be warned, as spoilers are below.
Eren’s titan form, which first appeared in the first season of the anime, didn’t have an official name for a while – that is until the end of the third season (or around the 86th chapter of the manga). This is when the fans learned that it shares the name with the series’ title. It was known as Shingeki no Kyojin – Attack Titan. However, as Eren’s powers grew and as he defeated more enemies and took their powers, his titan’s characteristics and powers also somewhat changed. At the end of the latest season, we had an opportunity to see it in its final form, as Eren controls The Rumbling, and it no longer looked like anything like the titan we initially saw. The name of Attack Titan’s new titan form is Shubi no Kyojin (終尾の巨人), which can be translated as The Final Titan. While romaji “shubi” can also mean “defense,” among other things, this reading refers to the tail end of things – something final, last.
Attack on Titan anime is continuing next year, with the third part of the final season, which should adapt the rest of the manga in full. Studio MAPPA is animating the series.
