What’s Rascal Does Not Dream of Dreaming Girl About?
Taking place after the events of Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, the story focuses on Shouko Makinohara, the first girl to ever win Sakuta’s heart. Half a year after Sakuta meets Mai-san and becomes fully immersed in their romance, an adult Shouko waltzes into Sakuta’s life. Further complicating matters, Sakuta realizes that two versions of Shouko exist. One of which is a middle school student facing a terminal illness. Whenever he’s near her, his adolescent syndrome scars cause him pain, forcing him to confront uncomfortable feelings and decisions about how to navigate the increasingly complicated environment around him.
The theatrical anime movie, based on Hajime Kamoshida’s AoButa novels and featuring art by Keiji Mizoguchi, premiered in Japanese theaters on June 15, 2019. Souichi Masui directed the Cloverworks animated movie. Masahiro Yokotani wrote the script and worked on the series composition, and Yoshikazu Iwanami served as the movie’s sound director.
