The Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King movie Blu-ray and DVD was released in Japan on Wednesday, July 17. The release includes a Blu-ray and DVD, along with a Blu-ray deluxe edition. No information is available yet for an international release date. Netflix is currently streaming the movie worldwide in both subbed and English dubbed versions.

The Blu-ray deluxe edition will cost 10,780 yen with taxes (~$68USD) and will contain a special three-sided case, a special material collection that includes a character set, art setting, artboards, original drawings, and countdown drawings. A special soundtrack CD, PV/CM video, and a booklet will also be included. The regular edition of the Blu-ray will cost 6,600 yen with taxes (~$42USD) and include a PV/CM video and booklet. The DVD will feature the same things but at a cost of 5,500 yen with taxes (~$35USD).

Ayataka Tanemura directed the movie at studio Pierrot. Tatsuya Yoshihara and animator Isuta worked with Tanemura on the movie storyboard, while Ai Orii and Johnny Onda handled the screenplay. Itsuko Takeda worked on the character designs while series creator Yuki Tabata came up with the original designs. Minako Seki reprised his series role as the music composer for the film.
The cast of the Black Clover series all reprised their original roles. Newcomers to the film included Fumiya Takahashi as Jester Galandros, Marie Iitoyo as Milly Maxwell, Miyuki Sawashiro as Princia, and Toshihiko Seki as Conrad Leto, the main antagonist of the film.
Written and illustrated by Yuki Tabata, Black Clover first began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine back in 2015 and has since released a total of 36 volumes. The series moved over to Jump GIGA magazine in December 2023 to give Tabata a healthier schedule following recent stints of health concerns. VIZ Media picked up the English license for the series and has published the first 35 volumes. No release date for the English publication of Volume 36 has been announced at this time.
The Black Clover manga currently has over 19 million copies in circulation as of July 2024.

Asta is a young boy who dreams of becoming the greatest mage in the kingdom. Only one problem—he can’t use any magic! Luckily for Asta, he receives the incredibly rare five-leaf clover grimoire that gives him the power of anti-magic. Can someone who can’t use magic really become the Wizard King?
