The upcoming Cells at Work live-action movie revealed a teaser visual and trailer, along with the main cast announcement. The movie is set to premiere in Japan in December 2024. Mei Nagano was cast as the Red Blood Cell, with Takeru Satoh joining as the White Blood cell. You can see them in the trailer below.
Hideki Takeuchi is directing the film, with script written by Yuichi Tokunaga. The new teaser visual also features the main actors in their costumes, and you can check that out below.
Cells at Work is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akane Shimizu. It was serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Shōnen Sirius magazine from January 2015 to January 2021. There is also a spin-off manga Cells at Work! Code Black, which was published from 2018 to 2021.
The series received an anime adaptation by David Production, with two seasons running from July 2018 to February 2021 through 21 episodes. The franchise also has a movie and a 13-episode anime adaptation of the Cells at Work! Code Black spin-off by studio LIDEN FILMS.
Kodansha USA licensed the manga in English, while Crunchyoll streams the anime. The latter describes the story:
