Chocobo GP is coming to Nintendo Switch on March 10, 2022, Square Enix confirmed on December 14. The nostalgic racing game will be featuring the adorable yellow feathered creature and his friends. The racing tracks will all be based on iconic locations across the Chocobo and Final Fantasy universe. Additionally, Square Enix also unveiled a trailer with character and gameplay information. Lastly, a Chocobo GP Lite, a free version of the game, will also be released.
According to their official website, the racing game full of magic and mayhem teases it with this description:
“Get set for a new racing experience, featuring a roster of dozens of your favorite Chocobo characters, complete with their own unique abilities and variants. Equip Magicites and take out the competition as you drift through various familiar courses in online and offline multiplayer modes. Compete in tournaments and become the reigning champion of GP!“

The Chocobo GP trailer shows that the game will also feature a fun collection of five different game modes. For starters, there is Story Mode for adventures and unlocking characters and tracks. Then there are Series Races, an exciting multiplayer racing competition. Additionally, Time Attack is a race challenge against your own or others’ top scores. There are also Custom Races where you can personalize crazy challenges and tracks. Lastly, there is Chocobo GP Mode, the ultimate online 64-player knock-out tournament!
Chocobo GP Lite
The Chocobo GP Lite is a free version of the game that will allow players to try the game before actually buying it! Lite players can play the game in single and multiplayer modes. The differences between the free and full versions are the character availability and the ability to join local multiplayer games as long as the host owns the full game. Additionally, saved data can be carried over once players purchase the full version of Chocobo GP!

Chocobo GP is the long-awaited sequel of the Chocobo Racing game, which was first released in 1999 on the Playstation Console. The game’s star is Chocobo, the yellow feathered mascot of the Final Fantasy Series. It also features other notable characters throughout the games, especially Cid.
