Crunchyroll has announced that it has acquired North American and select international theatrical rights for the Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK anime movie, revealing an Early 2025 release date. They will bring it together with Sony Pictures Entertainment, with the acquired territories including:
- North America: United States, Canada
- Latin America: Brazil, Mexico, and other select Latin American countries
- EMEA: Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom
- APAC: Australia, New Zealand
The anime movie was originally planned to only run for 3 weeks from November 8 in Japan, though they extended the screening period due to the successful run. Special ‘crying screenings’ were also announced, with planned dates being December 4 (yesterday) and December 11.
Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK movie revenue was announced to have exceeded 1 billion yen (~$6.65 million) at the box office on December 5, and the opening scene was released to commemorate it.
Studio MAPPA animated it, with Yuichiro Hayashi as the director. The theatrical release is a compilation of the Final Chapters specials, and it features improved cuts and 5.1ch surround sound. Fans in Japan have praised the movie, with many opting to watch it multiple times. A new post-credit scene was also added, adapting the Attack on School Castes spin-off.
Besides the director Yuichiro Hayashi, the main staff for Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK includes Hiroshi Seko on the series composition, Tomohiro Kishi as the character designer, chief animation direction by Daisuke Niinuma, editing by Masato Yoshitake, and music by KOHTA YAMAMOTO and Hiroyuki Sawano.
Attack on Titan: The Last Attack also has a January 2025 release date for Southeast Asia.
