Following their successful acquisition of Arcane Season 1, GKIDS has now secured the global home entertainment rights for the sequel Arcane Season 2. The company has confirmed plans to release a full range of physical media formats, including 4K UHD, for later this year.

Originally released on Netflix in 2021, Arcane quickly gained critical acclaim for its incredible animation, deep storytelling, and engaging characters, set within the League of Legends universe. Produced by Riot Games and animated by Fortiche Production, the series follows the sisters Vi and Jinx as they navigate the divide between Piltover and Zaun.
The show has been praised for its world-building, dynamic character arcs, and emotional depth, making it one of the most successful video game adaptations of all time.

With Arcane Season 2 having concluded its run on Netflix this past November, GKIDS’ acquisition of the home entertainment rights brings an opportunity for fans to own and revisit the complete series in high-quality formats. The second season expands upon the dramatic events of the first, diving deeper into the tensions between Zaun and Piltover, while introducing new characters and conflicts that further shape the League of Legends universe.
Christian Linke, the series’ co-creator, recently revealed that Riot Games is working on multiple projects set in different regions of Runeterra, including Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia. While Arcane may have reached its conclusion, fans can expect more animated projects from the franchise in the future.
Riot and Fortiche already showed a teaser through the “Welcome to Noxus” 5-minute cinematic, which featured appearances from numerous champions from Noxus that hadn’t appeared in the animated series, including Darius, Trundle, Katarina, Elise, LeBlanc and Vladimir.
GKIDS, recently acquired by Toho, is known for distributing acclaimed animated works such as The Studio Ghibli Collection, Belle, The Colors Within, and DAN DA DAN, has continued to expand its catalog of high-quality animation. With the release of Arcane Season 2 in physical formats, audiences will be able to experience the breathtaking visuals and powerful storytelling in the best possible quality.
