The upcoming Heat the Pig Liver (Buta no Liver wa Kanetsushiro) anime adaptation revealed a teaser visual, along with a 2023 premiere date and main cast. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Inosuke in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) will be voicing the titular Pig, while Tomori Kusunoki (Makima in Chainsaw Man) is voicing Jess.
The anime adaptation was announced in December of last year. The Buta no Liver (Heat the Pig Liver: The Story of a Man Turned Into a Pig) story is based on an isekai light novel written by Takuma Sakai and illustrated by Asagi Tohsaka. The light novel began serialization in 2020, and a manga adaptation is currently ongoing as well.
The plot follows an unappealing otaku who reincarnates as a pig, after passing out while eating raw pig liver. In the new world, he meets Jess, a girl who can read minds. Jess accepts him for who he is, but she does plan on eating him eventually. However, she is in danger, and Pig is the only one who can save her while using his new skillset which includes a refined sense of smell.
