Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable manga creator Kai Ikada announced back in August via X/Twitter that his beloved work would end after five years on September 11th, 2024. The 119th and final chapter was released today on the Shonen Jump Plus website in Japanese. Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable was adapted into a well-received anime earlier this year that ran from January to April 2024.
Ever since Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable‘s release in 2019, the manga has topped best-selling charts such as Comic Zin’s in Japan. In 2021, the first volume required a reprint due to its popularity. Shueisha has the manga available in English on their MANGA Plus app. Crunchyroll streams the anime adaptation and describes the work as:
Snowflakes aren’t the only things dropping in Hokkaido—so are jaws, thanks to the super adorable gals who are turning the icy north into a hotbed of fashion and fun. Brace yourself for a winter storm of laughs, love, and killer outfits as these gals prove that being cute is an all-season affair. Here, frostbite meets fashionista!
Kai Ikada released new artwork on X to celebrate the end of Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable. He says that he hopes his manga will bring people to love Hokkaido, Japan’s most northern prefecture, and bring people to visit his hometown of Kitami, where the series takes place.
While there’s no news on whether we will see season 2 of the Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable anime, fans are asking about the possibility under Ikada’s X post. Check out our review of season one.
