The “Horimiya” TV anime will release its final episode 13 today, and it looks like it will adapt the manga all the way to the ending. Adapting the final chapter would obviously decrease the chances of a sequel, besides a potential spin-off. Fans already noticed some scenes being skipped in the adaptation for the previous episodes as well. The official Twitter released the preview for the upcoming episode, and we can see some scenes that happen in the very last chapter of the manga.
The scene where Hori grabs Miyamura’s hand and starts running happens in the last panels, with Miyamura thinking about the sky. We actually interviewed the director Masashi Ishihama in the early stages of the anime. In one of the questions, we asked about what the fans should look forward to. He replied: “Now for the final episode, I want you to feel that this is where “Horimiya” will end.” Hits different now! You can read the full interview here.
The official Twitter shared an illustration to commemorate the final episode:
In case you’re somehow here without knowing what it is, read the story and maybe give it a shot:
Kyouko and Izumi are two classmates who each lead a double life: the popular and talented Kyouko cares for her little brother by herself while her parents are away, and the quiet, bespectacled Izumi hides his many piercings and tattoos at school. After accidentally discovering each other’s secrets the pair becomes fast friends, and together, they begin to navigate their new relationship together amongst unknowing peers and love rivals alike.
Following the manga ending only a few weeks ago, we didn’t expect the anime to adapt the Horimiya final chapters. It definitely seems possible at this point, but we’ll only be sure when the episode releases. You can also read our other Horimiya articles here!
