Kana Ichinose, the voice actress of Suletta Mercury in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury anime, did a reading of the CRADLE PLANET novel, which was written by the anime’s scriptwriter Ichiro Okochi wrote it as the original novel which accompanies the anime’s opening theme song, “The Blessing” by YOASOBI.
The novel depicts the story of Suletta Mercury from Gundam Aerial’s perspective and is currently available in Japanese and English on the anime’s official website. Kana Ichinose, known for her roles as Ichigo in Darling in the FranXX and Maki Shijo in Kaguya-sama: Love is War, is voicing Suletta Mercury in the new Gundam anime this season. “I had the chance of reading out loud the original novel ‘CRADLE PLANET’! After the live premiere of the video, the official Twitter account of YOASOBI updated with a tweet of appreciation and described the streaming as a “blissful time to enjoy the story by Ichinose-san’s reading with everyone, more than 20 thousand people. Let’s enjoy the future story developments together,” the post concluded. The voice actress quote-tweeted to express appreciation: “Thank you, everyone..! It was a pleasure narrating the original novel ‘CRADLE PLANET’!!“
YOASOBI’s “The Blessing” is also available as a music video on the channel and the video has surpassed 13 million views on the platform. The song’s single CD, which compiles the English version, was released on November 9.
Sunrise is producing the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury anime under Hiroshi Kobayashi’s direction, with Ichiro Okochi’s scripts. The anime’s broadcast schedule is split into two cours, and the first cour has been airing since October 2. The second cour is slated for April 2023.
