Lycoris Recoil Announces Short Movies Project, 6 Episodes by Different Directors and Writers

Lycoris Recoil anime has announced a short movies project, featuring 6 short episodes (or ‘movies’) about the daily lives of Chisato, Takina, and friends in Café LycoReco. Each of the episodes will be directed and storyboarded by different creators, with Shingo Adachi supervising. One of the episodes will feature a script written by character designer Imigimuru.

The announcement was made at a special program (now privated) for the anime celebrating its 2nd anniversary, with them referring to the new project as ‘shoto mubi’ (transliteration of the English words short movie). The official X account also shared the announcement, along with a teaser image.

A new anime project which was announced back in February 2023, and it seems that is not related to this project. Chisato’s voice actress, Chika Anzai, shared the following message on her X, implying that the two are separate projects.

The story is an original work by Spider Lily (Kadokawa Corporation, Dentsu Entertainment, and Aniplex) and Asaura, who is credited for the original story. Studio A-1 Pictures was in charge of the animation. Following the incredible reception of the anime, the franchise announced both manga and light novel adaptations.  The main cast in the anime included:

• Shion Wakayama as Takina Inoue
• Chika Anzai as Chisato Nishikigi
• Misaki Kuno as Kurumi
• Ami Koshimizu as Mizuki Nakahara
• Kosuke Sakaki as Mika
• Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Majima 

Crunchyroll is streaming the anime, and they describe the story:
For these peaceful days――there’s a secret behind it all.
A secret organization that prevents crimes: “DA – Direct Attack”.
And their group of all-girl agents: “Lycoris”.
This peaceful everyday life is all thanks to these young girls.
The elite Chisato Nishikigi is the strongest Lycoris agent of all time.
Alongside is Takina Inoue, the talented but mysterious Lycoris.
They work together at one of its branches–Café LycoReco.
Here, the orders this café takes range from coffee and sweets to childcare, shopping, teaching Japanese to foreign students, etc.
It’s mostly tasks unbefitting of Lycoris.
The free-spirited and optimistic pacifist, Chisato.
And the cool-headed and efficient Takina.
The chaotic everyday lives of this mismatched duo begin!

Lycoris Recoil was incredibly well recieved by fans. It was voted as the best anime of the Summer 2023 season, while Chisato was also voted as the best girl. Takina placed 3rd.
