Makoto Shinkai is a well known animator, filmmaker and manga artist. We’ve all seen or at least heard of Weathering With You and Your Name, which he wrote and directed. There are also 5 Centimeters per Second, The Garden of Words, among other great works (subjective). After the success of Weathering With You, he teased his next work a few months ago, but it was only a vague explanation with nothing concrete. In addition, he said that he wasn’t sure if he could handle a 3-year release schedule. Now, however, he posted a photo which could be Makoto Shinkai new film:
The tweet says that he has recently been shutting himself in his room to work on the storyboards. He also reveals that his condition might not be good; “My vision is more blurred and I found it harder than [when I did in] the previous work”.
The only thing we can tell from the photo is that he’s drawing a port of some kind, but a lot of fans appreciated the tweet and shared it. It’s also in no way confirmed that it’s from the next movie, but could as well be a random illustration. The part about his health is worrying, but hopefully he doesn’t overwork himself and we can enjoy a Makoto Shinkai new film (masterpiece) soon!
