The Medalist TV anime adaptation has revealed the first trailer. Studio ENGI is in charge of the animation, with Yasutaka Yamamoto as the director. Kana Ichinose and Yuma Ichida have also joined the voice cast as Hikaru Kamisaki and Jun Yodaka, respectively. You can watch the first trailer below.
Inori Yuitsuka is voiced by Natsumi Hirase (Kaoru Ryuzaki from Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls Theater), while coach Tsukasa Akeuraji is voiced by Takeo Otsuka (Jinshi from The Apothecary Diaries, Aqua from OSHI NO KO). There is a visual featuring Hikaru and Jun.
Chinatsu Kameyama is the character designer for the anime, with Jukki Hanada in charge of the series composition and screenplay.
Medalist is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tsurumaikada. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon since May 2020, and it has seven compiled volumes as of December 2022. The manga series also won at the 68th Shogakukan Manga Award for the general category. Kodansha licensed it in English, and they’ve been releasing it since May 2021. They describe the story:
Tsukasa, whose dreams were crushed. Inori, left to fend for herself. These two share a dream…and their tenacity may be the only thing that sees them through. Their destination? The ice…on the world’s stage!
